'Person of interest' in musician's killing

Jones, 17 (left), came in contact with Kansas City Symphony double bassist Steven Peters, 51 (right), who was found shot to death in his Independence duplex Tuesday.
"It seemed like the gentleman that was killed ran in totally different circles", Independence police spokesman Tom Gentry told Crime Scene KC.
" But we’ve come to believe very strongly that  he (Jones) has
information concerning that," Gentry said.

Independence police issued the following press release about Jones:

Police Seek Man for Information
Independence, Missouri Police are currently seeking an individual who is believed to have important information concerning a homicide that was discovered in the 9800 block of Westport Road in Independence on the evening of September 6th, 2005. 
    Michael A. Jones, a black male, 17 years of age, is being sought because the police believe he may have information that is important to the investigation.  Jones is described as being approximately 5’3” tall, 120 lbs, with black hair, brown eyes, and a teardrop tattoo underneath his right eye.  Jones’ picture is attached or may be sent via e-mail to interested outlets. 
    Mr. Jones, or anyone with information regarding his whereabouts, are urged to contact the Independence Police Department Investigations Unit at (816) 325-7300 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
