New: White murder defendant

Mangelsdorf_mugBy Greg Reeves

In what passes for press criticism in this city, this comment landed here last week:

  • "...It seems like you’ve posted an inordinate amount of mugshots of Black men...The generalization of Black men as criminals is a common phenomenon in the main stream media. Is The Star trying to contend that all of the crime in this city is committed by Black men?"

No, I just seek one-world government. For the record, I try to post every crime-related mugshot The Star prints or - more often - provided by law enforcement.

In that spirit, here's a photo of Mark Mangelsdorf, who pleaded not guilty Monday in Johnson County District Court in what prosecutors say was a 1982 love-triangle slaying. Star reporter Diane Carroll's court coverage here.

"...It seems like you’ve posted an inordinate amount of mugshots of Black men...The generalization of Black men as criminals is a common phenomenon in the main stream media. For their benefit, maybe you can find any gender and race data the KCMO police department has compiled which corresponds to crime statistics this year for burglary, robbery, assault and murder.

I am not one who generalizes. I don't look at those who have committed crimes as related to what amounts of melanin and other genetic coding for hair color/texture, eye color, height or gender they've been given, or whether they are a bat, cat, python or Pit Bull (remember, even animals can be held to human standards of what is a crime and suffer more profound punishment for the same crime committed by a human). When a person's photo is published and I read the article about what they been accused of or found guilty of, all that's on my mind is - WHY would you do THAT?!

The base issue, regardless of how someone's body is constructed...if only ALL people would act in a good and caring manner, there would be no illegal drug sales/purchases/use, assaults, robberies, burglaries, thefts or murders to report.

There's a US flag behind Mangelsdorf. Look carefully. There it is.

Just like on FOX News, that means Mangelsdorf has done no wrong.
