Greg,

I really like the KC Crime blog - and it has become a stop on my daily web cruising. However, I have noticed that more and more items are being posted in Microsoft Word format. Please keep in mind that there are a lot of folks out there that don't have "Word" on their computers - or due to firewalls or anti-virus software are unable to open attachments (which is how the word documents appear to the system). So, could you please copy the info to a web page, also attach it in .pdf format, or do something so that everyone can access the stories/articles you post.

Thanks,
CDW

Yup. I can't believe that these press releases aren't out in PDF or something more acceptable like that. Oh well.

I'm not sure it's the responsibility of the star or Greg or anything, though.

I can't thank you guys enough for this suggestion. I assumed it's pretty much an MS Office world out there. I'll pursue both of these goals: 1) Post a Web page link instead of a Microsoft Word file to upload and 2) Write everything I can to a PDF.

Doesn't anyone want to be a cop anymore?

Working weekends and various shifts is not the reason. People read the newspaper and the news outlets are the main reason police agencies across the United States are all having trouble with recruitment. Think about it!! Most of the larger agencies are requiring either 60 hours of college or military or equivilant experience. Why not work find something where you don't have to work weekends, various hours, and not have to worry about being prosecuted by the media and everyone else for doing your job. Until it sounds more appealing, these agencies can continue to lower their standards and have trouble finding real cops.

I would like you to continue with the excel files of the daily crime in Kansas City. I pop these into a database and make reports for my neighborhood association. Thank you.
