Don't mess with "Ms. Bitchy"

Kcpd_patch_15I rode with Kansas City police officer Ben Dougherty Saturday night in the North Patrol Division. It was a slow shift, but I'll report what happened in several posts today.

7:14 p.m. We answer a holdup alarm at a hotel, where the pleasant clerk is clueless about who might have pressed the button. Cops know her for the tag on her Mitsubishi, "Ms. Bitchy", which she once used to block a semi-trailer after a minor accident. The confidence of youth.

7:33 p.m. Another officer runs a tag on a Ford Harley-Davidson pickup truck and it comes back with a felony assault warrant out of Lee's Summit. But it's not their guy; it's a little family, with a very scared mom at gunpoint and a smiling baby in the back seat.
