Scam of the Week: Baby abductions

Scam_of_the_week_logo_black_and_white_2The Scam: Stealing infants
The Targets: New parents
The Hook: If you can believe the Center for Missing & Exploited Children, an average of 1 in every 420,000 babies is stranger-abducted in this country every year; 241 since 1983. That's slightly higher odds than being hit by lightning.
How to avoid being victimized: This problem is moving from hospitals - which have tightened up security - to homes, experts say. Abductors target parents in the hospital and attempt the abduction later or even cruise neighborhoods looking for signs that a new baby has arrived. News story
