CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. (AP) — A 26-year-old suburban St. Louis police officer was found shot to death early Tuesday inside a home she apparently shared with the suspect in the shooting, also a police officer.
Amanda Cates was a four-year veteran of the Normandy Police Department.
Robert Brooks, 37, was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in her death, Jefferson County prosecutors said.
Brooks is an officer with the Calverton Park department and previously worked in Jennings. Normandy and Calverton Park are in north St. Louis County, while the home where the two lived is in Crystal City in Jefferson County.
Cates worked as a resource officer at Normandy Middle School and was trained in crisis intervention.
