Theft suspect eludes police in OP

A man driving a stolen red SUV drove through yards and fences in Overland Park Sunday morning before entering a home and stealing a second vehicle, police said.
That vehicle was recovered in Lawrence, KS, Overland Park police said. Spokesman Jim Weaver told me police believe they have identified the man, who remains at large.

Reader Will E., a resident of the area, adds these details:

  • Lenexa, OP and KHP all searched, including a K-9 unit.
  • Suspect apparently hid in a tree while police searched below.
  • Suspect entered a house near 78th and Robinson, assaulted a woman and took her burgundy Lincoln Town car.
  • Suspect left a cell phone in the car.
  • "Nothing too exciting by the KC MO standards, but definitely unusual  for our little neighborhood," Will says.

I hope the guy did not go through R2's yard. He might get upset.

I think the second car he stole was R2's Camero

They always forget to lQQk ^.

Must be the follow up on the skinny white guy I sent in this morning, so the idiot left a cell phone, that will at least give prints if the phone was stolen.

KCTV will make it their lead story...OP crime wave..

Will E needs to get his facts straight...the man did not assault the wonman in the house- he stole her purse and car-but she was not injured...the phone left in the car was not the man's, it was the lady's who owned the car...and I highly doubt that the man hid in a tree...he was too busy doing other bad deeds. get your facts straight...you are as bad as the tabloids.
