Appointed city clerk in 2000, and an assistant clerk a couple years before that, Rhonda S. Minnick proceeded to clean out the coffers of Lawson, MO (pop. 2,400), authorities allege:
Think I'll write this one for $6,264
Authorities arrested and accused the Lawson city clerk of multiple counts of forgery and of stealing more than $89,000 from the public coffer.
Rhonda S. Minnick, 43, of Lawson is accused of writing several checks that were made payable to herself from the city’s checking account. Minnick later deposited the money into her personal account at a Kearney bank. Allegedly:
- Forged the city admin's name.
- Changed the entry in the city's check registry.
$89,000 / 2,400 = $37.08 each
