LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ A poll worker was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault and interfering with an election for allegedly choking a voter and pushing him out the door, officials said.
It apparently started as a dispute between the two over marking the ballot, said Lt. Col. Carl Yates of the Jefferson County sheriff's office.
The voter told poll worker Jeffery Steitz that he didn't want to vote in a judicial election because he didn't know enough about the candidates, but Steitz told him he had to vote in the race anyway, Yates said.
Steitz, 42, eventually grabbed the man by the neck and threw him out of the polling place, Yates said.
''The poor guy went back in and he threw him out again,'' Yates said. ''At least it wasn't over a Democrat or a Republican being on the ballot.''
Election officials called police.
Hat tip to reader You're a mean drunk R2D2!

I'm a peace loving individual, but there are a few voters I'd like to choke. Namely everyone who votes for Ted Kennedy today.

Temper - Temper people. Good grief. If the man didn't want to vote for a judge, he apparently shouldn't of announced it..

No voter should be told he must vote by someone else. The founding fathers would be appalled at this sorry incident.
What country is this, isn't it America, the land of the free? Pursuit of life, liberty and the right to be let alone?

Land of the free, home of the brave. And you'd better be brave, because people are free to do just about whatever they want to. LOL

Whew! makes me glad I cast my usual uninformed votes on the judge retention question. I just gave 'em all a 'yes' vote, except for the one named Limbaugh. Being a knee-jerk liberal, I couldn't bring myself to vote for anyone with that name. ;-)

HA HA! I could have written the same thing Kayceewolf...except I knew one of them and vote to retain him.

The only thing Ted Kennedy ought to run for is the city limits.

Whenever it comes to the judges, I always vote no. I figure it never hurts to get some fresh blood in there. ;)

I'm right there with you R2. I vote no on every judge. As far as I'm concerned, "This fall, fire them all. Re-Elect no one!" is as good a voter strategy as I can think of.

R2, I agree. When in doubt, vote 'em out!

Vote no on all judges ... besides what's the worse that could happen -- they end up running ads on late night tv/cable, which is good for the economy!

If you're voting no for Justice Stephen Limbaugh and you're a liberal, then you are shooting yourself in the foot. I'm not saying he's liberal, but he is moderate...and that's a darn sight better than some of the conservative blocks we've faced in the past.
The Mo Bar publishes a guide available for everyone. Get it, look at it, and make an informed decision. To think that a judge race doesn't matter is simply short-sighted and puts or keeps dangerous judges on the bench.

rs, note the winking smiley at the end of my post ... ;-)
I was being facetious.

How can a poll worker not know that you do not have to vote in every single race?

If you are in, you are out!!

If voting could change things, it would be illegal!
