This just in: Toby Young sentenced to 27 months
Breaking news from Kansas-side reporter Bob Cronkleton, who brings us the latest on Toby Young, the woman who snuck a murderer out of prison in a dog crate, then proceeded to hole up with him in a cozy cabin a couple states away:
A federal judge this afternoon sentenced Toby Young, who helped a convicted killer escape from a Kansas prison last year in a dog crate, to 27 months in federal prison.
The sentence will run concurrently with the 21-month sentence Young is already serving, which means she would be released sometime in the spring of next year.
Young pleaded guilty in March to a federal charge of knowingly providing a firearm to a felon. Prosecutors sought a five-year sentence. Young’s attorney, however, asked for an 18-month sentence to run concurrent with her state sentence.
Young is currently serving a 21-month sentence after pleading guilty to state charges of aiding and abetting John M. Manard’s February 2006 escape from Lansing Correctional Facility. Authorities caught the couple in Tennessee.

Just have to love the slight of hand method of sentencing the so called justice system employees. The headline reads: ...sentenced to 27 months. Sounds so much better than the truth. Sentenced to 6 months.

So if you are with a friend and the friend goes psycho and kills someone. You, as his friend, on the scene, are a murderer too?
John Maynard is not a murderer. Get it straight.

would a man had gotten the same sentance?

John Maynard might not be, but John Manard most certainly is a murderer. Not only a murderer but a robber to boot. He was not an innocent bystander, he is a killer.
Let me guess. Mudhen?

Here's why she was granted the concurrent sentence:
Her dad was very respected in the area
Her ex (I think it's final now) is a respected firefighter and its been hell on the kids to hear what mom did to dad with this murderer all over the place.
She'll suffer more when she is released.
She should pick the fint of her scarlet letter now.

Will she and Manard hook up when she gets out? You bet!

Without question, but, there will be a delay. They won't let her have any contact with him until she is off paper, or, gets special permission to marry him. I don't see that happening while he's under the control of Ray Roberts, but, it's fairly easy for them to arrange to be sent where they choose. A year or so out of the eyes of the media and public and he'll be able to go elsewhere.

I seriously doubt that John Maynard actually cares about her at all. Convicts will latch onto any prison personnel that they think will fall for the attention. He used her. She was dumb enough to fall for it. It's that simple. He'll keep up the charade for awhile... as long as it's getting him attention. Right now they look like a romantic couple and some bleeding hearts will fall for that and feel sorry for them. When that wears off John Maynard will move on to another victim who can help him.

What if someone would have died because of her actions?
She was wanted for aiding and abetting aggravated escape. She betrayed the trust of not only her employers, but the security and safety of,,, not only guards and federal employees, but possibly countless civilians had there been any public confrontation.
She supplied two guns, so it's apparent that she was as culpable as the convicted murderer she helped escape.
This should have carried at least a ten year term.
Just incredible.
Destroys faith in our justice system.

Agree, Paul, that sentence is way to lenient.

I agree... it's actually a 6 month sentence. She deserved a 27 month sentence after her State sentence. The only laws that the police and judges enforce with any vigor are traffic laws.
The judge must be a bleeding heart do-gooder and a moron.
