Martial-arts instructor accused of child abuse for allegedly hitting student with bamboo stick

KMBC has a story about a martial-arts instructor from Warrensburg who's accused of felony child abuse because he allegedly hit a 7-year-old student with a bamboo stick.

The police report says the boy's mom asked the instructor to teach the kid to respect his elders. But then the boy allegedly came home with bruises and red marks -- punishment for not doing pushups or squats the right way, the police said. The instructor said he has a lot to say, but can't talk yet because the case is in the legal system.

It was only a matter of time before someone outsourced beating their kids.

This is where the parent says that the instructor was an independent contractor and they cannot be held responsible his actions.

This is part of martial arts. Teaching kids discpline and not taking shortcuts in life.

If parents took more of an active role in raising their children, there would not have been a need to ask the Martial Arts instructor to teach the child to respect his elders. Raising children is the responsibility of the parents, not for the teachers, instructors, etc.

Just wanted to peek in and say good one Sasquach!

I agree that disipline should come from the parents. But the mother asked him to TALK to the boy to get him to behave better, alot of times young boys will be more influenced by a male role model. However, the mother had no idea and it was not right that he would physically harm the child like that.

spare the rod spoil the child.

hah, I know someone who knows this guy. Says the guy is kind of odd in the first place.
