Need a health-care plan? Maybe you should consider a life of crime

Wichita is pretty unhappy now that it's picking up the tab for the medical expenses of people who get arrested. It used to be the county who paid, but Kansas changed the law so now the arresting agency picks up the bill. Wichita got to pay $126K the first year under the new rule.

It's not even people who get hurt committing a crime -- if somebody breaks his hand and then surrenders himself for an outstanding warrant, the city gets to pay the doctor bill.
