Bystanders save the day in OP parking lot

A little something that came up on my cops shift last night. Thanks to a couple of energetic guys, this robber didn't get away:

Bystanders tackled a parking lot robber and restrained him until police arrived this evening in Overland Park.

The aggravated robbery was reported about 5:45 p.m. at the southwest corner of 95th Street and Nall Avenue.

Alerted by a woman screaming, a handful of men from nearby businesses chased down the robber and wrestled him to the ground, Police Capt. Mark Fitzgerald said.

The suspect’s efforts to resist failed.

There were several of them and one of him — and he lost,” Fitzgerald said.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries received in the tussle with witnesses. The victim was threatened but not injured by the robber.

Excessive use of force lawsuit coming next....

And police warning everyone not to ever resist criminals or be vigilantes like this.

You live like a crook, expect to be beaten like a crook!

The perp should have pulled out a box cutter and everyone would have scattered.
The police probably feel cheated, they could have had an opportunity to unload several magazines from close range and possibly get one kill shot.

OR taser him a couple of times.

Since most OP cops are KCMO cop wannabes.....they live for a situation like this so they can f**k somebody up. Hell, in OP you'll get tasered for demanding coreect change from a cashier.

Maybe that's why crime in OP isn't anything like the crime in KCMO.

It wouldn't surprise me if some shyster didn't try to sue the heroes who grabbed this thug. Given the pack of morons we have sitting on the bench in Kansas and the fact that many of them make this punk look like an upstanding citizen, the suit would probably get wings.
