Have they found Emily Sander?

Sander

UPDATED, THURSDAY AFTERNOON: Police say they've found a woman's remains east of El Dorado, and the description is similar to Sander's.

UPDATED: Police now say Sander's sideline had nothing to do with her disappearance.

PREVIOUSLY: Her brother has confirmed the AP's report that Sander posed for naked photos on a porn site. Though FBI experts on Internet crime are investigating, there's no proof that Sander's work had anything to do with her disappearance. If there's any bright side to this news breaking, it's how her story has gone to a national level. That could help investigators develop leads in other states.

Other blogs have posts here, here (with non-nude photos), and here.

My husband tells me the Zoey Zane website has been taken down. Eat your hearts out, boys.

And all of us have probably gotten spam from her website.

I hope folks don't focus on the website and not on finding her.

I have read posts over the last few months and have seen how some people on here write some of the stupidist unhumane things. Whether it be about the cops that have been shot recently or this girl or anyone else, anyone who writes they hope the die or find them dead is disgusting. I do not even know how people could write those kind of things. Do you not think about the consequences it will bear on her family's lives as they get on here trying to see if anyone knows anything. This is a sad world.

This is indeed a sad world. Young women should not sell themselves on the internet for a quick $. Most of them will do it for free. This has a negative impact on them and has consequences throughout the remainder of their lives.

What posts are you talking about, dumb? All I've seen on here are best wishes for her safe return and feelings of empathy for her family and friends.

dumb, I don't know exactly what posts you're talking about. Maybe they've been taken down, and I didn't see them.

I will say this however:

I hope this girl is alright and that they find her. However, if a woman expects to be treated with respect she has to show it. If you ask the world to victimize you, it will, you can count on it.

Guys -- Sorry, forgot to mention this, but I did take a couple of posts down. They were pretty awful. One person basically hoped they find Sander dead.

It probably members of the Phelps Family
God Hates F***
Pure crap and nothing else but.
I don't wish anybody dead!

The entire situation is just sad. I just hope and pray that they do find her alive. Regardless of her internet enterprises, the girl didn't do anything worthy of harm or death.

I do wonder where were her parents in the whole thing? Even at age 18, most older teens are still dependent on Mom and Dad.

I do get the feeling that a large part of this whole story is missing.
And that the missing part is not good.

This sounds kind of like a job for St. Jude.

You're right Priest, from what we know she didn't do anything worthy of harm or death.

Also, from what we know, she didn't do anything wrong at all.

Bummer James.

With that in mind, +1 on your sentiments, dumb.

Why did the porn stuff have to come out??
What was the purpose of that? Maybe that's reporting..... all that they new, which doesn't help, it just hurts people!
We all have to get a job, no matter what it is? Even reporting.....if that's what you call it now days? I hope and pray she is alive.

I hope that there is a good ending in this and that she's fine and ok. However with what we know, it will most likely end up turning out badly for her and her family and loved ones.

I wonder if her ex-bf who didn't agree with her choice to model nude flipped out when she chose that over him and he brutally murdered her.

Also, she's a very beautiful young woman and have to say that the pics I saw of her were quite nice, minus a bad tatoo on her mid section.

R2D2 Your probly right!

Her boyfriend could have been the one to do it.He also probly saw her at the bar with that other guy and did something to both of them.

It's kind of messed up how since because the guy is Mexican they believe he is already in Mexico.

Or maybe she killed the Mexican and ran off with the girlfriend to Mexico.

I can't fathom the pain her family is going through. Hope they can remain strong and hold hope.

In my opinion, they shouldn't have said anything to the media about her double life activities. Especially, if the police don't think it played a part in her disappearance. Certainly, revealing that information has to be embarrassing to the family.

You darn right her engaging in a dangerous and risky activity was embarrassing for the family. She knew it was wrong, knew the risks, hid it from her family, only told supposedly a few close friends. How does an 18 year old so sweet and innocent get into a bar and meet a stranger? Get involved with porn on the internet? Maybe, she's not so sweet and innocent as we're being led to believe. She made a stupid and naive mistake and now it appears it might have caused her, her life.

It's kind of messed up how since because the guy is Mexican they believe he is already in Mexico. ~Mizzou-Nick

How so? He has friends and family there. The article states so. Pretty logical assumption, I think.

You don't expect a tiger fan to be logical, I hope..lol

She was such a beautiful girl If I was her boyfriend I would have worked with her to better herself, even if pornography was what she wanted to do I would still support her, not dump her. All I know is sh*t has happened to me to put me in disbelieve and I did nothing to deserve it. Sh*t does not happen for a reason, and I don't think she put herself there. She is still alive...God help her...

I suppose that because hookers sell their bodies and are supposedly immoral that they get what they deserve when the get murdered. What this kid did on the internet isn't really germane to this discussion except to make the whole thing more salicious. The same people who are always whining, "why do we always have to hear about Paris and Britney?" are the ones who make sure they keep up to date on their crap. The reason we get this drivel from the media is because that is what most Americans want. The masses are asses.

Give it up R2D2, where did you find the pics??!!!

Southeast Idaho. The boyfriend did what most MEN should do. When their significant others start to act like this it's best to get rid of them. There are a lot of women out there and to find a truly good one is something to be treasured. It is better to want something you don't have than to have something you don't want - like an internet porno star who would in all likelihood cheat, divorce, and live off of you for 18+years on child support.

I don't think the idea is girls who engage in such dangerous and risky life styles deserved to be murder. It's more along the lines, they put themselves in that position knowing the danger and risk involved living their lives like that. Why hide it from her family, if it wasn't such a bad thing? She definitely, knew what she was doing and probably didn't think it could happen to her. What do you expect would happen when her face and nude body plastered all over the internet? Craving the attention from strangers is what killed her, it wasn't just about money. And certainly, an attractive girl like that could find a better way to make money than get on the internet and be a porn star.

If she was committed to her boyfriend, if he was an important part of her life, she wouldn't be on the internet acting like porn star..that's just selfish on her part.

"You darn right her engaging in a dangerous and risky activity was embarrassing for the family. She knew it was wrong, knew the risks, hid it from her family, only told supposedly a few close friends."

4'wheelinmomma, why exactly do you think that what she did was "wrong," who's "wrong" are we talking about here?

What she did was legal, and aparently fulfilling to her. Her friend said she enjoyed it.

Any of y'all who are saying she "put herself in this position," "should have knew the risks," etceteras, are basically saying she deserves what happens to her... why?

Is it because her soft-core internet porn assaults your religious morality, or is it just because she looks decent, and you're fat?

dbarnes, I don't have any moral qualms about whatever she wanted to do. The fact is that kind of lifestyle involves many risks. No doubt many that she hadn't thought of.

Is that a scratch on her lip or a piercing? It looks kinda yucky. Regardless of the lifestyle she chose I hope they find her safely.

spicolli, its not hard. surely you've heard of google, lol. i'm wondering if that burnt her brothers eyes having to look at those pics.

Shocking that many of the people posting here are falling over themselves to blame the victim. She is a missing person, likely due to foul play, and regardless of her choice of part time employment she deserves the community's best efforts in finding her. I doubt any girl's decision to pose nude on the internet is going to lead to the erosion of the moral fibre of our country, but us men should admit it is the men out there that are spending millions on the subscription fees to these sites - without the $$$ incentive this girl wouldn't be getting naked online and she'd still be alive. So - stop blaming her and get back to work!

rhonda, btw, why was your husband trying to go to her website for anyways? ;-)

The same reason everyone else was.

Actually, I told him that x-raygal had warned us away from it. That was reason enough.

Her pics and videos are VERY easy to find.

I'm not offended by pornography, hell my wife and I and our friends have porn night (also black and white movie night, etc...)

Did you know that Debbie never actually goes to Dallas?

I was dissappointed...

In any case...sucks that she is missing...

...I could care less about her porn...I'm more dismayed that a really bad choise (a la Natalee Holloway style) is going to most likely end in her demise...

...sympathy to the family...

Dear Chris...

...I like porn...

...I'm a man...

...I like bacon too...

...it may be men spending money on internet porn...but I've never spent a dime online...

...Adam & Eve ftw...

...yeah, porn has nothing to do with moral fiber...its the human body...not crack or murder...

Someone asked how an 18 year old got into a bar. Are you serious? Its so freakin easy. If you are cute, many times they let your right in. If not, there is always the friends ID or even a good fake ID. I went to college in a small midwest town and the problem was not just underage college girls getting into bars, but underage Highschool girls getting in. Many 15/16 year olds can easily look 21.

I can't imagine that everyone here has NEVER looked at porn and yet so many people are saying what a bad person she is and how she made a bad choice being in porn. Well, did you think the girls in the porn, weren't real?

The lack of judgement was leaving the bar with a stranger....but I'm sure many of us did dumb things, perhaps even the same things when we her age. Luckily, we weren't killed.

How sad...they found a body of a young woman whose description is consistent with that of Emily Sander....about 50 miles from El Dorado. How terribly sad....

Allah took the infidel!

Allah Akbar!

No it's not the fact that he is a mexican that is making him look guilty-you idiot. It is the fact that his motel room had blood splattered all over it, he is no place to be found, but they found his car in Texas. No doubt he ran off to Mexico after he done the crime, BUT I am sure he will turn himself in WHEN the news reaches him that they are searching all over for him. I wonder if he is a US citizen or one of the others? Either way, bring him back, and fry him, but don't stretch it out for twenty-five years. Do it ASAP as I don't have any desire to feed the slime ball!!!

Is the Hispanic suspect an illegal immigrant? Likely, he is one of the 12 million illegal immigrants. Thankfully, Missouri does not give away driver's licenses to illegal immigrants and thus reward their illegal behavior.

Keep believing that John. A close family friend ended up in hot water with immigration for hiring an illegal - and he had the guys legally issued Missouri state drivers license as proof of citizenship.

This is another tragic story. But for the grace of God I made it through those years with no dire consequences - and I'm sure could be said of many of us. I suspect Emily wasn't exactly an angel, but it really doesn't matter. No one, not her and not her family ever deserves to go through something like this. =(

dfbarnes..more like you fat...please..the girl got caught up in a bad life style and probably got killed from making a bad decision..Do you think she was enjoying being murder? The truth is she knew the dangers and risks she was taking when she made the choice to live that kind of life style. If it wasn't wrong or bad, why did she keep it from her family? Theres better and safer ways to make money out there. Thats the truth and reality.

A few strange facts about this story. Israel Mireles had moved to El Dorado a couple months ago to work as a waiter and was living in a motel room across the street from where Emily lived. His preganent 16 year old girl friend lived 170 miles away. You don't move to a town that is 170 miles away from your pregnant girlfriend to get a waiter job, I haven't seen any mention of anyone who knew Israel except his co-workers in El Dorado.

I may be connecting dots that aren't there, but could he have came across Emily via Zoey Zane website and found out where she lived, moved to El Dorado hoping to meet her and whatever else, convinced her to leave with him from the bar, then things not go the way he planned and he then killed her. (Not necessarily saying that he planned to kill her but maybe he did)

I don't get where people think she didn't put herself in a position for something bad to happen to her. Are you saying it's a safe lifestyle for your daughter, niece, or cousin to be living? I bet it would be different song you would be singing if someone like that who was close to you used poor judgment and was murdered.

My sincerest condolences to the family. What a tragic loss...

Why do some of you people just ASSUME that what she was doing on the internet had anything to do with her murder? There has been no evidence or commentary from the police whatsoever to justify that conclusion. It is, however, an oppportunity for some you right-wing, ultra-conservative Christian haters to stand in judgement on her. I think one of the worst sins in the world is to stand in judgement of another human being. How will you answer when God asks you why?

It's not a moral judgement to say that appearing on a pornographic website is risky behavior and something that could lead to putting you in harm's way. It is just a fact. I am not a "ultra-conservative Christian hater", in fact I am a ultra-liberal non-religious woman, and I still think that a young woman who portrays herself this way is more likely to be victimized. It's too bad, because I don't think anyone deserves to be hurt or killed because of their sexual behaviors, but there are many creeps out there who would do so.

You got it all wrong. only a few of you have a grasp of what happened.
Kelsey Smith was killed and she wasnt on the internet.
And what is this Pornstar crap!
She wasnt a pornstar, get real.
I myself believe that the pictures had nothing to do with it.
A killer killed.

YES SHE HAS BEEN FOUND DECEASED AND SUSPECT CHARGED..

Suspect says another man present in room

1/2/2008

WICHITA (AP) -- A man suspected of killing a Butler Community College student says he's innocent and another man was present when the woman was killed.

Israel Mireles, formerly of Hays, told his 16-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Martens, also formerly of Hays, that he got into a fight with the other man the night Emily Sander was killed in El Dorado, said Martens' mother, Sandy Martens -- who works at The Hays Daily News.

Ellis County authorities have charged Mireles, 24, with aggravated indecent liberties with a child, accusing him of impregnating Victoria Martens when she was 15.

He also is charged in Butler County with capital murder, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy in the Nov. 24 death of Sander, an 18-year-old who was missing for several days before her body was found about 50 miles east of El Dorado.

Authorities allege Mireles left a bar near El Dorado with Sander and killed her before picking up Victoria Martens at her grandmother's house in Baxter Springs and taking her to Mexico.

The case drew nationwide attention after it was discovered Sander also led a secret life as an Internet porn model named Zoey Zane.

Mireles was arrested in Mexico on Dec. 19 and is facing extradition to Kansas. Victoria Martens was with him in Mexico but has not been charged. Because Victoria Martens is considered a runaway, a hearing was scheduled for today in Hays to determine where she will be placed, Sandy Martens said.

Sandy Martens met with her daughter Saturday at a WaKeeney juvenile facility. It was the first time she had seen her daughter since Thanksgiving, and she told the Wichita Eagle the meeting was emotional and intense.

Based on what her daughter told her, Sandy Martens said: "Even he (Mireles) professes his innocence -- that there was somebody else there. He said that he got into a fight with another man."

Sandy Martens said her daughter, whose baby is due in late January, believes Mireles is innocent.

Martens said she wants her daughter to remain with her until the baby -- already named Isabelle Marie -- is born. After that, Martens said, her daughter might be better off getting a fresh start with relatives out of state.
