A couple of my favorite dispatches from this past weekend, all of which Kansas City police handled (or debunked):
Friday night, a disturbance: "It's involving a male -- he's actin' a fool."
Saturday night, a suspicious person somewhere on Ash: "We've got an unknown male, wearing all camo' clothing, trying to direct traffic to go down a dead-end street."
Later Saturday night, a reported shooting at 7-11, Benton Boulevard and Independence Avenue. It turned out to be a hoax. Dispatchers suspected that early on, and this is probably why: "Suspect is a black male, approximately 80 years of age, with one leg, wearing all red and last seen running eastbound."
