"Megan Had It Coming"

For those coming in late ... Last month, someone launched a blog named "Megan Had It Coming," about 13-year-old Megan Meier, a St. Louis-area girl who committed suicide after she was harassed over the Internet. The blog -- well, the title says it all.

Who's writing it? That's an excellent question, and the St. Charles County prosecutor and sheriff are trying to find the answer. Until recently, the author's been anonymous, but on Monday, there was a long post claiming to be from Lori Drew, the Meiers' neighbor. Drew's family says she didn't write it, KTVI reports. (I tried calling her attorney, and so did the station, but he's not responded yet.) Frankly, it just doesn't make sense that Drew -- who's tried to avoid attention -- would write her own blog about the case.

Not that that's stopping people from commenting. There were something like 2,000 notes attached to the most recent post. Somewhere, a troll is laughing at all the trouble he's caused.

James thanks for the update. I glanced at the blog earlier today. It is off the hook. I do not think that Lori Drew started it. Whoever did has awaken a monster of feedback from the public. People actually wish this woman death.

Check out htis website wher ethe author previously posted an identical message to th efirst post on Megan Had It Coming one day before the MHIC blog appeared: http://www.mycrimespace.com/2007/12/05/megan-had-it-coming-is-a-hoax-and-other-news/
