Gov. Kathleen Sebelius' son John is selling a board game about prison called "Don't Drop The Soap," which he created as a college class project. From The AP:
"Fight your way through 6 different exciting locations in hopes of being granted parole," the site says. "Escape prison riots in The Yard, slip glass into a mob boss' lasagna in the Cafeteria, steal painkillers from the nurse's desk in the Infirmary, avoid being cornered by the Aryans in the Shower Room, fight off Latin Kings in Gang War, and try not to smoke your entire stash in The Hole."

Just a "back door" way to honor her greatest fans and constituents on sabbatical.

fox 4 says that they are shipping it out of the Gov's mansion.

What is so ignorant about it? People in this state are so uptight it's pathetic.
Miscreant, is the gov's mansion the legal residence of this kid? If so, and obviously if no public funds are being used, is there a problem?

The governor's mansion is not a private residence in the sense of the ordinary citizen. It is public property,.,.Sebelius should have enough respect for the public that she should tell her son to rent an office. The State should ask him to pay rent..The treatment of the governor's mansion as a warehouse reminds me of trailer trash hypocrite she is...

Fox4 reports the website lists the company's address as the Governors mansion, but I don't see where they say it's shipped from there.

had he been black it sure would've been called everything but interesting
Posted by: nowwaht | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 10:21 AM
JIM is right. I think the game is registered there, but John Sebelius intends to file somewhere else once his mom is out of office.
Posted by: James Hart | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 10:25 AM
I think this is hilarious... lighten up people.. it is a novelty.. he might as well be selling clacking teeth!
Posted by: Searching | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 10:25 AM
If Sebelius was a Republican, then the press and all the liberals would be screaming that public property is being used for private business purposes, just like they are screaming about Phill Kline's alledged campaign expenditures.
However, since she is a liberal Democrat and the darling of The "Red" Star, this will never happen. If Sebelius had any respect for herself, the People's House and her office, then she would tell her son to use a separate business address and to conduct his business outside the mansion. Liberals and the columnists of this paper are hypocrites!!!

What do you expect, son like mother. She let over 82.000 illegals take over Kansas. Now she wants to be senator.
Posted by: larry | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 10:54 AM
He looks like Jim from the Office. I like it. Everyone needs to get off their red state v. blue state high horse and have a sense of humor.
Posted by: jan | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 11:00 AM
Anybody that hates Sebelius as bad as some of these bloggers is nothing but a right-wing-nut anyway. There is a horrible split betweeen the moderate Republicans and the wing-nut Republicans anyway. The moderates can't get enough support for their candidates to put them up against her.
So we are left with the one dimensional cro-magnum Republicans who are basically Anti--everything. No wonder she is governor and no wonder the pre-historic Republicans can't get elected anyway. The onlything they are FOR, is the coal plant in western Kansas. Sorry neo's it isn't going to happen.
Posted by: GetThatThroughYourThickSkull | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 11:52 AM
Sebelius sucks. She is from an inbred politcal family. People should be elected on merit on blood line. This is not England.
Posted by: john | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 12:11 PM
Larry, does the Governor have some secret army of border patrol commandos that we don't know about? How is a state government responsible for illegal immigration?

Ever walk into a Spencer's gifts? How about some of the video games that have come out? Give it a rest people. Do your butt cheeks squeak when you walk?

Not if you pick up the soap.

Gosh, John, I am so glad your mother is governor, and SOOOOOooooo proud of you. I can't even fathom "being proud." My number one question is "where, and how did you learn so much about the system?" You will need to keep tied to your Mother's apron strings. What else could she say? I am not proud of my son. Of course not. She has to look good as the governor as well as a mother.

Interesting that this article is released on the same day Gov. Sebelius is scheduled to give the Democrats rebuttal after the president's State of the Union address. Did the Republicans release this news?

Do the producers of HBO's series "Oz" know that whole plot elements of their first season were lifted as "scenarios" for this game?
Let's see, we have a mob boss done in by ground glass in his food, a character in a wheelchair, prison rape by the leader of the Aryan Nation gang, a prison riot, drug smuggling ... all of which happened in the first season of "Oz." The thing with stealing painkillers from the nurse's desk happened in season two.
Since the game seems to follow the plotline of "Oz," does the governor's son have to pay some sort of royalties?
Posted by: kayceewolf | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 02:16 PM
Not at all surprising. The Sebelius name isn't exactly associated with honorable choices.
Posted by: True American | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 02:29 PM
I really dislike Sebilius. She is not a leader. Her son developing a board game based on criminal activities, I don't think has anything to do with governor. The only thing about the story itself I don't like is that he is using the governor mansion's address as his business address. He needs a PO Box.
The reporting on Fox 4 last night about this was awful. Of course, I think it was a feebled attempt to make the news cast balanced. The stories before this one, President Bush and the story about the tax rebate checks were very liberal biased in their delivery.
I don't know what the woman's name who was broadcasting last night, but she seemed to have a hard time reading the news. I think it was because of the content, not that she was bad at it.
Posted by: Bill CK | Monday, January 28, 2008 at 02:35 PM
Dude, this is funny!
Since he's in school (in Rhode Island), I assume that's why he has to use mom's and dad's residental address for any business correspondence.
He's done everything professionally, transparently, and above board; AP even said he took out a loan to get this thing on the road. And while the topic might be a little *ahem* tacky, I still like the kid's moxie!
Thoough I don't see the CSKC peeps sitting around a table playing this any time soon.

I think this game was made for the far right. With all the sex scandals and kiddy porn on the republicans I would say he should market this straight to the GOP (Grand old perverts)

If this was coming from a Rep gov. son you people in KS would be saying........cool. Get a real life, geesh! Its a TOY not a keepsake.

I give the kid credit for coming up with something on his own steam.

Once again left -wing nuts like you prove your insanity and immaturity that when you cannot prove a point on its merits, you resort to name-calling. No one is denying Sebelius' son the right to invent a game, we object to his using Public Property aka the Governor's Mansion for private use as a business address. It's not a question of Republican or Democrat,it's a matter of integrity, propriety and bad judgment on Sebelius' part.

I'm just glad a whiteboy did something stupid this time. I like how we all are told to lighten up since it's a white dude. If he had been black OMG I can only imagine what would have been said.

I think all this is so stupid. This young man is in college yet he makes a joke out of people being in prison! That is not a joke you idiot. Had it been a black man that created this game he would have been called the -N- word. One more thing way did it have to be the Latin Kings that they have to fight off why not the white trash

It is good to see a suburban son of our governor being a productive citizen. I would like to know where he got all his expert knowledge on prison life??
Haha funny his mom's political cronies helped him.

If all our mothers were responsible for their adult childrens actions, the whole state of Kansas...as well as the rest of the country would be in a LOT of trouble.

Pssstttt.....hey KC Brougham...Barney Frank is a Democrat - not unusal for a Democrat to have a different sexual orientation but a few years back his "friend" was running a prostitution operation out of Barney's home in the daytime. Needless to say, backdoor Barney was in the news. By the way, look at San Francisco, nearly 99% Democrat & darn near everyone is like Barney Frank.

When you order the game online, they don't collect Kansas sales Tax (I have a Kansas Address). This business is located at the Governor's Mansion...I guess that makes them exempt from Kansas sales tax laws.
Looks like our Governor just, "DROPPED THE SOAP".
I also find it hard to believe that "GLOCK" would give permission for use of their name...when the gun in the game doesn't even look like a "Glock", it's obviously a "SIG".
Bad taste aside...this game appears criminal.

Is there an age limit on this thing? Because this isn't something I'd want my son growing up playing.
Seriously. What are we teaching our children these days?

watching all of you whine and complain about a kid using his "home" address for his company address. its really no big deal. he's earning his own way. he's not milking the system like most of the people who live in wyandotte county. or how about all the tax abatements that all the rich farmers get in kansas?
and those of you wondering where he learned about prison? ever watch movies? tv?

You sound like a bit of a prude, you know?
Her son created the game as a project in college. He's 23 years old now and evidently his game took off.
I don't see anything improper about what he's done.
I also do not think it has anything to do with how our awesome governor is doing.
