Johnny Landa: Guilty of vehicular homicide
A Johnson County jury this afternoon found 19-year-old Johnny Landa of De Soto guilty of vehicular homicide in the August death of his 17-year-old girlfriend.
The charge is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum of a year in jail and a fine up to $2,500. The jury was given three options: second-degree murder, which Landa had been charged with; involuntary manslaughter, or vehicular homicide.

May Griselda rest in peace and her family find strength. One year is that even considered justice, what a joke! What ever happened to the victims rights. How can a year be considered retribution, that is disgusting. The justice system is telling this pig that it's ok that he committed a murder. Maybe the jury should have spent some time with the family to see what this animal destroyed and caused!

She did jump off a moving truck. However, it was not moving when she jumped on. In my opinion he should have been charged with 2nd Degree murder. What idiot takes off with someone hanging onto thier vehicle? He made the decision to take off and that makes him responsible.

nr: I'm sure you're probably a friend of the family so your emotions are very strong, but look at it from the jurors perspective. The victim should shoulder some of the blame for jumping onto the vehicle. It was an unfortunate accident and I think the verdict was appropriate.

Ni: Ok so she jumped on the truck, but that didn't endanger him. He chose to take off with her holding on to the truck, clearly he chose to endanger her life.
