HIV-positive man's spit was a deadly weapon, jury says
He's been sentenced to 35 years for spitting into a Dallas officer's eyes and mouth. (No word if the officer contracted HIV as a result.) Because the attack involved a deadly weapon, the man will have to serve half of his sentence before he can be paroled.

I didn't think HIV could be passed via saliva?

If I'm remembering right, saliva contains trace amounts of HIV, but I don't think they've ever found anybody who's contracted through saliva. The example I've always heard is that you'd have to drink gallons and gallons of HIV saliva to get infected ...
Hope you keep that mental picture with you all day ...

Thanks James, my day would not be complete without you posting some really nasty information like that.

No problem, Blarn! And remember -- the spit is warm.
