There's a new book out, "Now The Hell Will Start," about the case of Herman Perry, an African-American soldier who shot and killed a white lieutenant during World War II -- and then escaped by fleeing into the Burmese jungle, where he married into the local tribe. It's written by Brendan Koerner -- you might recognize the name if you read Slate's Explainer column. I haven't picked it up yet, but it sounds very interesting.
Here's a mini-site dedicated to the book.
