From the MO Highway Patrol: Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the results of two sobriety checkpoints conducted in Clay County on July 5 and July 6, 2008. The checkpoints were a joint effort with the Smithville Police Department.
A total of 867 cars were checked during this operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made a total of four DWI arrests, one misdemeanor arrest, and two driver’s license arrests; 86 warnings were issued. The checkpoints are part of the continuing effort by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies to remove intoxicated drivers from the highways of our state.

4 of 867. that's just under 5 in every 1000 or .005%

What a waste of manpower and money, not matter what the justification!!!
That's .005 drivers or .5% !!!!! Since the
Highway Patrol is funded with Road Tax $$$, the State wasted our $$$ on this act of stupidity rather than fix the substandard roads, like US 169 north of Smithville, which represents a greater hazard!!!
We have fools for leaders!!!

"We have fools for leaders!!!"
Yeah, but it's not like anybody's forcing them on us - we keep electing the useless wastes of flesh. So who are the REAL fools?
