KY Amish don't want to display lights, "slow-moving" signs on their buggies

The men say the signs and lights are "too worldly" and, thus, are against their religion. The ACLU is going to serve as defense counsel in the case.

If they do not want to obey traffic laws, then they should have access to public streets... The Amish are spunges.. they hide behind their religion to avoid certain activities, yet take public welfare..

As a Christain, i am offended by their abuse of " Freedom of Religion" to be a traffic hazard and cause an accident. That is not "loving your neighbor as yourself"!

Concerned , Your Comments Show only Moronic Thought Christian or Not I could Say one Christian i know Takes welfare , does that make all Christians "spunges" , Would you like it if the law said that you , as a christian , were required to wear a talisman of "satan" on your person , or vehicle ?
Besides this is a case of one set of men.
May Your God not Judge you as quickly and harshly as you have chosen to judge others.

If they don't want to use the reflectors, anyone who crashes into their buggy some dark night shouldn't be held liable.

I'm all for personal freedom, but this is ridiculous. With some of the idiots out there on the roads, I'd WANT to make it easy for my vehicle to be seen.

Actually, the issue really should be travel after dark. There is no right to be an invisible obstruction on the public road.

No one should be required to violate their freedom of religion, but no doctrine I know off requires night-time travel. Failure ot have proper lighting at night constitutes a real danger to others, and no religiious doctrine I know of mandates endangering others. Requiring tail lights at night is perfectly reasonable in protecting OTHERS.

Handle rattlesnakes if you must to earn your way to heaven -- but do it in private, not where they can bite those whose theology is less primative.

The ACLU -- which is usually dead right -- might consider spending its time resisting the Bushie assault on the Constitution.

Not being able to be seen may just hasten their departure from all things "too worldly".
