Riverside plans National Night Out

Riverside Police and Fire will be part of the annual National Night Out from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 5, a Tuesday, at the Riverside Community Center, 4498 NW High Drive.

From Riverside PD:

The goal is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs and most importantly, send a message to criminals that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.  It is also the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors, fire fighters and police officers.

Activities include:  PAL Boot Camp, McGruff the Crime Dog, Life Flight Helicopter, Missouri Highway Patrol Crash Simulator, Prizes, Safety Tips for children and parents, E.P.A. Emergency Response Vehicle, Fire Trucks & Police Cars on display, Riverside’s K-9 Units, Children’s: Save A Child I.D. Kits, Children’s Entertainment and Swimming! (Bring Swim Suit).

BY THE WAY: If your department or neighborhood group has a Night Out event planned, please let me know, and we'll tell everybody about it on the blog!
