About 600 detained in MS immigration raid

Raid

Sorry, Postville -- it looks like this might be the biggest workplace immigration raid in U.S. history. It happened at Howard Industries in the town of Laurel -- they make all sorts of things, including medical supplies and electric transformers. Of those who were detained, about 100 were given tracking bracelets and allowed to go home because they have children.

The company could lose the right to operate for a year. It's not clear if there are going to be state criminal charges against the workers. (Mississippi says it's a felony for an illegal immigrant to accept a job there.)

In a way, I kinda feel sorry for the poor sons-a-beeches, they're just looking for the better life, what this country was built on, but for gosh sakes, first learn the language, then go through the legal channels, hope you're accepted, and if you are, LEAVE YOUR MEXICAN FLAGS IN MEXICO and become a prductive citizen.

Hell yeah. Time to start doing this in kc.

The Legal Channels?/
Thats the problem, americans dont know the pain of getting into the country, let alone working here.

Its a bitch, you need interview, visas, money, property, and LUCK. Change the requirements and it could get better

Thats the problem, americans dont know the pain of getting into the country, let alone working here.

Whoever said this is not speaking for me.

Yeah, my first husband was British.. and yeah it was a beotch.. lots of paperwork, 2 years to the finale... so, what? You are saying that you want to change where you live, your allegiance, your willingness to live as an American.... why shouldnt we weed out those that are not serious, who are looking for a free ride?
You think it is tough to become an American? Try changing your religion to Jewish sometime.. Their standards are WAAAY higher than becoming an American. You are saying we should lower our standards.. are you new on this blog?

How are they not being productive citizens, spiccoli? They were working in manufacturing making supplies that vital to many industries. Also, why should they leave their flag at home when I see Irish flags, union jacks, etc flying all over the place on businesses and houses?

It's a shame that ICE and their tactics have made it out to the midwest. This article doesn't even mention only 8 of the 595 arrested were charged with identity theft. Heads up to all you in Kentucky, protest and raise a fit before someone like Sheriff Joe is arresting everyone that isn't white and throwing them in tents in your city.
-AZ resident

Can't go changing all the rules Danny, sorry.

Gabriel, I'm not saying that THESE people weren't being productive, they are here illegaly, it's the law. Bring your flag if you want, but fly the freaking USofA flag FIRST.

i just think its a shame that so many people think of illegals as people here just for a free ride my husband is from mexico and im going through the same thing with ice we are legally married w/ 1 child together and he is also step father to my 5 children from a previous relationship and now they want to deport him we have allready put in the application for his papers but they say because he has not been here for 10 yrs hes deportable i want to know why the government would want to seperate a family? I feel for these familys that are going through this but youll need to keep fighting!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a waste. Americans have been living with illegal immigrants since the 1960s. And now the war on terror has turned into the war on illegal immigrants most of which are Latino.

I have a great idea, let's reassign ICE and send them to the front lines in Afghanistan and Irak and in equal numbers bring back the hardworking Marines and Army units, many of which are Latino and Blacks.

They were given tracking bracelets? what kind of tracking bracelets?

So they let them go home because they have been fitted with an RFID bracelet? Do the braceltes shock them like these?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2I85lctWq0

Ice could care less about illegals, in the near future everyone, citizen and non will be required to carry a tracker. thats what this story is about, in about a month all those people will be back to work- THE GOV DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ILLEGALS BEING HERE, whenever you force a change on society you start with the voiceless- thats in machiavelli's prince- the real pourpose of this raid was to slowly start putting bracelets on people who cannot protest the invasion of privacy- but if you carry a cell phone you might as well be wearing the same bracelets-

The technology can tell when people enter a shopping centre, what stores they visit, how long they remain there, and what route they take as they walked around.
http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article3945496.ece

Wake up people, we all know if they wanted to stop illegal immigration they could, just toss in jail the CEO of any corporation who is using undocumente workers, PROBLEM SOLVED. becoming a citizen is like walking through fire, pretty soon being one will be the same. I think these guys need to get in line like everybody else but ill be danged if they are wearing a tracking bracelet- they are men not dogs and i wouldint put that thing on my dog.

Decide Now.
Will you allow yourself to be chipped like a dog?

There is NO way for a normal person to come to US. There is no LEGAL way to come here.

Even for medical reasons ( FULL PAID ) they don't let people come. Only those that make the news get to come for medical reasons. (My father died of cancer. He was suppose to come to US for a easy surgery that would have save his life. They didn't let him come.)

ICE is backed up for years here in US. Unless you are a cat and have extra lifes you stand no chance.

Yes there is the usual way of getting married with a US citizen but that is just wrong.

I know you guys don't like what you see. All those mexicans moving up all around you.

This is nothing new.
Phobia is a human reaction. We all have certain fobias. (see gypsies in Europe)
You guys have a phobia before against blacks, asian, arabs (911) and now mexicans.

Everybody including ILLEGALS are against criminals. Most illegals are not criminals.
Crossing the border is not a criminal act.

You guys had have it so good for so long.

Pray to your GOD that you will never have to migrate somewhere else for a better life.

If you really want to do something: fix the *&^ng border.

Leave those people that are HEROES in the eyes of their children find ways to beat this stupid system in USA.

If there is anybody coming over the border and is smarter than you are...embrace that person, one day he may save your ass.

There is no redneck that can fix this problem. It is so big and so complex it takes more than wasting your breath yapping about it.

You only get one life. Make the most of it.

Trina -
You want to know why the Gov't is splitting apart families???

It's not just the illegals that are being ripped apart. Citizen's family's are being ripped apart as well.

It's to create obfuscation and confusion. Divide and conquer.

P.S. You should have known he was illegal and should have expected it. It's come to pass, now deal with it. If you truly love him, move.

As someone who has created six children with at least two different fathers, is Spicolli really showing the discernment of someone we should listen to?

I'm sorry, it's called following the law, look into it.

They are being deported because they broke the law. Legal citizens are paying for their crime through welfare, SS, medical, schools, legal system and Medi-Cade just to name a few, to the tune of over 68 billion dollars a year.

Identity theft is a real issue. And the worst part is that when your identity has been stolen and used, we as citizens are not informed and could be. Credit Bureaus, the IRS and the SS Admistration know the individuals who have identity theft, but the will not disclose this fact. They have a system set up to capture the money paid to SS that has over 500 billion dollars in it to date. We as citizens don't get notified until the perpetrators don't pay a bill, then we spend tons of time and resources trying to clear it up. In the mean time our credit go in the dunk hole.

We need the IRS to co-operate with the SS Administration and Homeland Security to get the Illegals out of our system.

My wife is Colombian. It took over one year to get her a green card. She had to obtain police reports from every town she had lived in over 6 months for her entire life. She had to have school transcripts, personal references. All of these had to translated and notorized in English. She had to obtain a medical exam and xrays and then she had to leave the country to a port of entry, be examined by another doctor and then reenter.

This was in 1972. Why should anyone else be treated differently now?

I have a great idea, let's reassign ICE and send them to the front lines in Afghanistan and Irak and in equal numbers bring back the hardworking Marines and Army units, many of which are Latino and Blacks.

The US pays this for Illegals

This from a study done in 2002 for the Center For Immigratiom:
Medicade-2.5B
Treatment of uninsured-2.2B
Food tamps, WIC, free school lunches-1.9B
Federal Prisons and Court Systems-1.6B
Ferderal Aid to Schools-1.4B
Welfare-22B
Education-12B
Anchor Baby Education-17B

2006-Money sent home to Mexico from Illegals
45B

Why would we as legal citizens supporte illegals or feel bad about breaking up families that knowingly broke the law in the first place. Most of us never qualify for federal assistance and we scrounge everyday to feed our children in school. But, WE DO IT THE LEGAL WAY.

Jimbo - They shouldn't

Oh by the way, batteries out if you are an immigrant, or dont want to be monitored for your shopping habits or listened to by a hackable "roving bug"
http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1035_22-150467.html

Don't forget about the hundreds of victims, those whose ID they stole. I can tell you first hand, it takes years to correct. In fact it can't ever be fully corrected. The only thing worse than stealing a person's ID, is stealing their life. I hope these miserable thieves's get 20 years in jail, minimum.

These people aren't interested in coming to the United States in order to live a better life here. They come to the USA to earn money that will be sent to their respective home countries, so that they can live a better life there, when they return.

"Crossing the border is not a criminal act."

Crossing the border without authorization is an illegal act. It's called, "Entry Without Inspection," and is punishable with prison time.

Since Oct.2007- Rio Grande Valley-Border Patrol has caught and detained 58,994 Illegals crossing the border.
They seized 289,140 pounds of marijuana and 3,971 pounds of cocaine.
First, Illegals broke the law entering but that's not enough, they also brought in contriband.
Fine upstanding citizens they will become.

From the 2006 (1st Quarter) INS/FBI Statistical Report:

12 Americans murdered everday by Illegals(4,380 a yr)
13 people per day die by Illegals who drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs(4,745 a year)
95% of warrants for MURDER in Los Angeles, 83% of warrants for MURDER in Phoenix and 86% of warrants for MURDER in Albuquerque are for Illegal Immigrants.
75 % of people on the most wanted list in those 3 cities are for Illegals.
29% (630,000) of the inmates in all State and Federal prisons are Illegals, costing the American people 1.6 billion dollars annually.

Why are legal citizens being killed on American soil by Illegals? And, why are we footing the bill?

Great job ICE!

Here is why the whole family needs to be packed up and sent home:

2006 INS/FBI Statistical Report:

More than 380,000 "anchor babies" born in the US were to Illegals, making those babies US Citizens.
97.2% of all costs incurred from those births were paid for by Legal Citizens.

More than 66% of all births in California are to Illegal Mexicans on Medi-Cal. These births paid for by taxpayers.

Over 70% of the Unites States annual population growth results from Illegal Immigration at a cost of nearly $68,000000000.00 a year.

It's time for Illegals to cry on someone elses shoulders.

Good job ICE. Keep up the good work. Now that we have them in custody, let's make sure that they get deported.

There should be at least one raid a day, minnimum.

There is more to some illegal immigrants than:
- ID theft
- drugs
- prostitution
- welfare
- food stamps

I agree, they should pack up the scam and send them where they came from.

On the other hand, I am a single mom. I work for a high tech business and ...I am employed by an illegal immigrant !!!!

Yeap, my boss is illegal in US. He owns multiple businesses. LEGAL BUSINESSES !

We all have great salaries and BENEFITS !!!

If they deport him, me and 15 other people will be out of a job.

My understanding is that he tried for many years to adjust his status but it was impossible. So he doesn't even care about it.

Now that's some illegal immigrant.

Homeland Security Study 2008

12M Illegals in US
8M Illegals unemployed

Question?
How are they making ends meet?

Answer:
58% of all Welfare payments are to Illegals.
More than 43% of Food Stamps are to Illegals.
More than 41% of unemployement checks are to Illegals.
33B a year to educate Illegals.
29% of the Illegals are being taken care of in our Judiciary system.

A 2001 report shows that Welfare paid out
75B dollars a year to Illegals. We could use
these funds to help our own poor and elderly.

It is time to start setting examples.
Shut down the plant for a year, deport those here illegally, fine the company and prosecute those at that company who were involved in the smuggling and hiring of the illegal labor.

Great job of screwing up the country ICE.
Now the US can't talk smack about China's human rights records, nor of any other country human rights track record.

Let make sure Cheney gets locked up and treated as a war criminal.

Four more months. Four more Months

Which country uses torture?

Waterboarding is a form of torture that consists of immobilizing a person on their back with the head inclined downward—known as the Trendelenburg position—and pouring water over the face and into the breathing passages.[1][2] Through forced suffocation and inhalation of water, the subject experiences the process of drowning and is made to believe that death is imminent.[3] In contrast to merely submerging the head face-forward, waterboarding almost immediately elicits the gag reflex.[4] Although waterboarding does not always cause lasting physical damage, it carries the risks of extreme pain, damage to the lungs, brain damage caused by oxygen deprivation, injuries (including broken bones) due to struggling against restraints, and even death.[5] The psychological effects on victims of waterboarding can last for years after the procedure.[6]

Waterboarding was used for interrogation at least as early as the Spanish Inquisition to obtain information,[7] coerce confessions, punish, and intimidate. It is considered to be torture by a wide range of authorities, including legal experts,[5][8] politicians, war veterans,[9][10] intelligence officials,[11] military judges,[12] and human rights organizations.[13][14] Despite its long use as a technique, the first actual use of the term "waterboarding" in the media occurred on May 13, 2004, in the New York Times. In 2007 waterboarding led to a political scandal in the United States when the press reported that the CIA had waterboarded extrajudicial prisoners and that the Justice Department had authorized this procedure.[15][16] The CIA is known to have used waterboarding on at least three Al-Qaida suspects: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri.[17][18]

Responce to Jimbo. You left out the American Legal Blacks and Latino that will come home to no jobs because of illegal immigrants have taken them and their I.D.'s

Hopefully the Feds will royally burn this scum company straight to the ground.

Raindog, the names are below the post, I think you are refering to trina.
I'm pretty sure I don't have at least 6 kids with two different fathers.

The USA is supposed to be a country under the Rule of Law.

If we do not follow the Rule of Law, or we just apply it as we see fit, one day The Powers That Be will decide to apply it as THEY see fit.

Maybe, on that day, THEY decide you cannot have free speech. Or cannot own a weapon for self defense. Or cannot own property.

What offends me is that the power structure of BOTH political parties allow this to happen. They both have their reasons, and all their reasons are self-serving.

If we're going to pick and choose which laws we follow and which we enforce, I'd like to stop following the TAX CODE. For a few years, at least...

I am appalled at the madness of all these Americans complaining about the illegals! Who would do the work, while you spend most of your time watching TV and chowing down lard? I think we need to learn to respect the illegals but let them remain illegal so they continue working. Once you make them legal, they also stop working and switch to lard-consumption mode...

80 percent of the American population are NOT easily going to be swayed, by either Obama, McCain to give the 13 to 20 million illegal aliens any kind of Amnesty.? By any name they want to call it? It has to be voted by house, Senate, and THE PEOPLE and that will have major hurdles, if not impossible?
Everybody who doesn't have the right papers, know they are intentionally breaking the law. Their is no malice by the agents; just a duty to the American people and those who came here legally. The 'Rule of Law" must be observed by every person in the United States. LAUREL, Miss, a manufacturing plant where 600 illegal aliens were arrested this week, shows the abnormality of the problem? The federal agents declined how many agents were involved in the raid, but said they acted on a tip provided by a union worker.

You cannot tell me for one minute, that the CEO, Directors on mahogany row didn't know about the illegal workers? Ice has a Tipline: 1-866-DHS-2ICE for intelligence to locate illegal aliens, or predatory businesses that employ them. If we can only pass the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) that Democrats are trying to keep away from the public eye. Its funding will build a massive force of interior ICE agents, including 20.000 border patrol enforcement to root out the culprits and the E-verify data base that is 90.5 percent effective. NUMBERSUSA, CAPSWEB

Illegal it is obvious that you hate Americans. Yet, you and yours continue to come in illegally, in order to feed off what Americans have built.. here's an Idea.. why dont you go back to your own country and you and your citizens can build your own dream?

I know why you dont.. because your entire population is too cowardly to stand up to an oppressive govenment.. as Americans did.. and change the way that things are in your own country... That makes you and yours a bottom-feeding bunch.

who wants to work 10 hours for 6an hour?... well tis people don't have a choice, they work in jobs that nobody wanst to do so don't say the illegals immigrants should go back because those people came here because they didn't have the money to live and raise a family in thei'r country and they have found a beter life in here.

being RASIST is against the law jakass

Mexican,
I know that you have absolutely no regard for the laws in America.. but learn this one:
Being a Racist I NOT against the law!

and as far as the 6hr goes... if mexicans werent willing to do the job for 6hr.. it would pay 12hr.. dumbarse

I love how all these illegals always call americans lazy and want us to feel sorry for them. Calling names is not the way to get sympathy and only makes us more likely to want to deport your ass.

Excuse me? It's too hard to get into the US legally, so that justifies coming here illegally? The US says who can come, for what reason, and for how long. Sorry, but not everyone who wants to come to America can do so, and especially not on their own timetable. Maybe you'll get it next week, maybe you'll get in 10 years from now, maybe you'll never get in. Regardless, follow the law or else live in constant fear of your impending deportation!

Howard Industries did not pay thier lobby money.

These illegalls ere taking good paying jobs from Americans, I work with several people that were down sized from Howards only to be replaced by the illegalls. These 600 represented almost half of the employees at that plant.
This morning hundreds of Leagle Americans were standing in line for these well paying US jobs.

well i guess every country has it's rules!!!! sry... well by da way they r not poor well some of them but som of them aren't caus dey com to work so u need 2 shut da fuck up n watch wat u is sayin.....

i justed moved from laurel because i couldnt find a job there, now i know who had them all.which is a shame because i know mr and mrs Howard personnaly.and theyve been buyin a lot of caddys lately at chancellor
motors.
