Good morning, fellow Costellos!
Mother Nature says, "When you've got to go, you've got to go." The law says otherwise, Mother Nature or not. SNIP:
Knouff is no prince himself. In early August, already on parole for a 2006 drunken incident when he threw a brick thru a restaurant window and resisted arrest, was fired for refusing to pay a cabbie, claiming to be a cop, then trying to bribe the real cops. Don't you love it when the system works?Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 06:29 AM
Oooops! 2nd link above should be THIS. Sorry.

Since I'm talking to myself today, I'll post several non-standard but personal favorite crimes from recent Business news:
1. Creekstone Farms is a producer of natural premium Angus beef out of Arkansas City, Ks., south of Wichita near the Oklahoma line. They've wanted to test all their product for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (a.k.a. BSE or "mad cow disease." The USDA, at the behest of the large meatpackers, has stopped Creekstone from doing just that so far. So you'll be happy to know that when you die of mad cow disease, they'll call it [early onset] Alzheimer's and tell us consumers not to worry because beef is what's for dinner.
2. FDIC insures deposits up to $100,000. When a bank fails, it's largely acraps shoot whether excess deposits are covered, held captive for a while and returned in whole or part, or merely lost forever. (For many businesses, it is virtually impossible to operate and maintain depository or disbursement accounts under $100,000.)
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 04:44 PM
Since typepad won't let me post all this at once, here's more:
3. Diane Stafford points out in her blog today the U.S. is at or near the bottom in providing leave for new parents among 21 "high-income economies" considered globally competitive. Only Switzerland has less guaranteed leave, but most of that is paid leave. U.S. guaranteed leave is all unpaid. And we have "family values" political arguments.
4. I'm sure you noticed earlier this week that the Kansas City Cheaps will sell naming rights to Arrowhead. I thought that Jackson County citizens owned that joint.
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 04:45 PM
And finally:
5. Cordish, the "owners" of the city taxpayer-funded Power and Lightheaded District, and Anschutz Entertainment Group, operators of taxpayer-owned Sprint Arena are unhappy with a Grand Blvd. route for light rail. They prefer something more out of the way and less useful. I guess Kay Barnes and Wayne Cauthen got into bed with these mokes, received those first tender kisses of lust and desire, and then Kay bailed and Wayne got laryngitis, leaving the taxpayers to get the actual screwing.

Hey, Keith - thanks for all the links! You're not really alone here, I'm sure everyone will catch up with you later. This blog is addictive - I always check here first to see what's going on in the world.
Off to dinner - probably won't be eating any beef tonight! (Actually, a pork burrito is the goal...)

6:03 and I am sixth? Where is everyone. Beautiful day but just a little too warm. Went to City Market for my nutty snacks for the week then decided to visit some of the oriental food stores in the area. Picked up only a few things. Yes paid for also. Then as I am ready to head home I meet some friends and talk until we turned into lobsters.
I did not sleep very much last night for I probably in for an early night.

Keith, must comment on your mad cow. based on my reading most of the rapid alzheimer's is actually mad cow. I also believe that there are several types in the food chain. When someone starts having problems walking and dies in less than a month of alzheimer it is not alzhiemer's.
We must all die of something and to live a longer life we must eat so I wish the government would stop protecting the public from making decisions on what they eat.

Tried to avoid thinking about food safety during dinner...too scary. Keith, hope you enjoyed Jack Stack's - one of my favorite places.
AH - what do you mean by "nutty snacks" from City Market? Always interested in trying good stuff.

Sophie, for some reason I hesitated over the beef burnt ends. I did the babybacks, and they were divine!

Sophie, there is a mediteranin store near the north west corner that sells bulk nuts and fruits along with lots of bulk spices. The have the peanuts with the crunchie coating in several types. I generally buy cashews and pistachios. Today because of the fast starting soon they had some extra goodies including raw fresh dates and the best dried cherries I have found. I splurged and bought the last of the roasted coffee that was in the box. I have not become bold enough to roast my own coffee but they do have green coffee beans.
The pitas were just arriving and they always have various honey filo goodies.

Good morning, fellow Costellos and Mr. Abbott.
Some of my "favorite" stories are about government refusing to take responsibility for its actions. A Victoria, Australia woman was viciously beaten by police in an illegal raid and arrest case. She sued the State and won, but the verdict was overturned on appeal, when the appeals court ruled that the State isn't responsible for the illegal actions of the police. Snip:
After the appeals court ruling, the government went after her lawyer for over $435,000 AUD ($372,000 US) in costs.Horvath is now appealing to the United Nations Human Rights Committee (UNHRC) like any Zimbabwean would.

Hello everyone!
Hows this wonderful day going for everyone?
Posted by: You're a Mean Drunk on your Birthday R2D2™ | Sunday, August 31, 2008 at 11:35 AM
I think it's a crock that the FDA and the beef lobby won't let Creekstone test all their beef and market the fact that they do so. Even if it cost more, consumers need to have that option, and pay more if they wish to do so.
But the powerful lobbyists trump capitalism.
I will disclose that my mom died of a disease in the same family as so-called "mad cow disease." Even though I know that CJD is NOT related to vCJD and is not caused by eating tainted beef - in my opinion we are foolish not to consider taking precautions against introducing encephalothopy into the food chain. I can tell you, it's a hell of a way to die.
And you're right, AH. Death in a month is not early-onset Alzheimer's. CJD usually runs its course in four to six months, and in people 60 or older. vCJD affects anyone who consumed affected animals (deer and elk and other animals also carry the disease) and after onset it can be a year or longer before death occurs.
Now, just to cheer everyone up, the prion that causes the disease cannot be destroyed by freezing or burning. So if you think going vegan solves your problems, do a little research on other products that use bovine ingredients - medicine, cosmetics, gelatin - Altoid mints - so your exposure is not necessarily limited if you don't eat meat.
And my dad worked for decades as a butcher, and at a slaughterhouse, but never got vCJD.
By the way - we're grilling ribeye steaks for dinner tonight.

Adams Township (Pittsburgh area) has denied an occupancy license to a studio teaching pole and lap dancing (fully clothed), among other things. The Township code enforcement dicktator is reported to have said he didn't need to interview [the owner] because her Web site's "pink-and-black color scheme ... and the high-heeled shoe in her logo indicated to him she planned to run a sexually oriented business"
AND, R2, there's a link to the studio's web site!

I got fresh figs at Pricechopper the second week of August. Ticked me off though that they were in two places and only one had a price and that one was not clear if it was a box of figs or per fig. Also the first place was just at hand level of all of the children and I saw one hit them with his hand and the other run hands over them. I got mine from the other space.
There are a group of ethic stores at 103 and Metcalf on the west side of Metcalf that have many interesting things. The oriental store is on the north? side and a little difficult to locate.
Keith/Patty I still eat lots of beef and have truely wondered at some vegetarians reading abilities. They have found that articokes contain a substance similar to rennet and this is being used for some cheeses and ice cream. People should realize that the end products of slaughter end up in almost everything including fish and chicken food.

Referring back to my earlier delivery, they should publicly put about to their clients what systematically are the settings they are using in their true ?live? accounts. Of progress I have not create their accurate settings.
The Protracted Expression Trading Scheme The crave term trading procedure is basically a modified and improved version of Forex Autopilot. There is a great story behind this that is explained on the Fap Turbo homepage, but to summarize ? the Fap Turbo developers were settled permission by Marcus Leary to limit the Forex Autopilot protocol to be aware if they could oration the shortcomings and then drummer it as a disunite product. What they ended up with is a pattern that is much safer and more worthwhile than the original Forex Autopilot. A rooted take a break disappearance policy was implemented to limit drawdowns, bigger profits are bewitched from charming trades and a variety of filters and indicators were added to avoid trading during chancy and inconstant periods.
Documentation and Training Possibly man thing I noticed immediately is that the Fap Turbo documentation and training resources are much more exact than the ones you learn with other Forex robots like Forex Autopilot. All setting are explained in some detail in the manuals, just the ones you don?t have occasion for to change and there are videos in the member field to show you faithfully how to set up the Fap Turbo robots on your pc.
Fellow Forum Another thing that Fap Turbo has that you won?t find with diverse Forex robots is a colleague forum (principally because most Forex robots don?t work and the creators don?t shortage people to discuss the upshot). As part of your securing you also net comprehensive access to the unique Fap Turbo associate forum, as effectively as the popular monthly mentoring sessions.

Both the be and hanker settle strategies of Fap Turbo from been exceptionally flourishing so far. The gruff an arrangement game only just in all cases makes a losing pursuit and when it does the losses are small. The prolonged reach an agreement strategy makes much bigger profits than the original Forex Autopilot, but is also safer because of the set an end passing parameter and improved customers filters. I tested Fap Turbo in a demo account in behalf of 2 weeks and the results were as follows. My $5000 demo account has almost doubled to $9466 greater than the 2 week check period. A plexus profit of +1818 pips were achieved, consisting of +1468 pips from the dream of time master plan and +350 pips from the brief sitting strategy. At commencement glint the long schedule tactics of Fap Turbo seems a an enormous number more helpful, but it is notable to note that the squat term strategy is incredibly non-poisonous and has a unusually grand triumph gait, so it?s a much more cautious strategy. The dream of style strategy of Fap Turbo has bigger profits, but also bigger drawdowns and at bottom presents more risk. Both strategies experience a sensation clip of roughly 92% so far and there has simply been 7 losing trades thoroughly of a entire of 91.
