Who was Brandon Garner?

Garner Christine Vendel has a profile of Garner, who was shot and killed Monday night as he left his job at an auto-parts store near 62nd and Troost. Snip:

Twenty-four years ago, doctors told Linda Johnson her prematurely born son would not live past age 7.

He suffered upper respiratory problems, high blood pressure, persistent ear infections and asthma. But Brandon Garner survived, graduated from Westport High School and had two children of his own.

Police don't think this was a random killing, but they're not sure yet if Garner was the intended target.

He looks like a great father. More children without a father.

That's a damn shame. He looks like one of the good ones. Poor babies...

Cute happy babies. Black dude graduated high school, had a job, appears to be a good father, and some rotten POS worthless thug took it all away with the pull of a trigger. Makes me want to puke...

He appears to be a responsible man and father. I am disgusted that we allow thugs to procreate!!! I heard from the KCMOPD that Jackson County is refusing to prosecute many cases such as stolen cars and multiple warrants ..Why am I paying taxes to this worthless Jackson County government which will not protect society and wastes money ? Oh yeah, Denny Waits and his worthless cohorts on the Jackson County Legislature voted themselves a pay raise to $25,000 for a part-time job.. This is legalized stealing!!!!

Brandon was a very cool person and that is sad that now his children have to grow up without a father. He will be missed.

My cousin Brandon was the best man in the entire world for a man his age. He was a hard working man that lived for his family, friends and loved ones. He was never the type to hang in the streets and get caught up in the crazy things people are apart of today. A home body that loved to be with family. I still cant believe that someone would actually take his life...take him away from us. Everytime I see his children I just break out and cry because they really cant understand why daddy is gone.
