3 killed, 1 injured in the space of 6 hours

One of the cases involves a clerk shooting a robber in the neck at a 7-Eleven. From KCPD:

On Tuesday (9/23) at about 622 pm officers were called to Penn Valley park (27th and Broadway) to investigate an assault. A witness reported seeing a group of males fighting.  The suspects scattered and the witness saw the victim on the ground.  The victim, a male in his late 30's to early 40's, was pronounced dead at the scene.  There is no suspect information at this time.

On Tuesday at about 849 pm, officers were called to Royal Liquor, 801 SW Boulevard to investigate a shooting. Upon arriving, officers learned a security officer with American Homeland Security Company had shot a male in his 30's.  The security guard said he approached the man who was causing problems at the business earlier in the day.  The guard said he was told the man was carrying a gun in his back pocket.  The guard told the man he needed to leave the property. The man refused to comply and started a physical altercation with the guard.  During the altercation, the guard said the man reached behind his back.  Believing the man had a gun, the guard shot the man.  The man fled on foot and was found in an alley about a block from the scene.  Police did not locate a gun.  The man's injuries are life threatening.

On Tuesday at 1032pm, officers were called to the 7-11 convenience store at 27th and Van Brunt to investigate a shooting.  Upon arriving, officers found an 18 year old male dead behind the counter of the store.  The man had been shot once in the neck.  The man was robbing the store at gunpoint when one of the two clerks pulled out his own gun and shot the man.  The clerk is a concealed weapons permit holder.  The clerk and the suspect had handguns.

On Wednesday (9/24), at about 1228am, officers were called to 39th Terrace and Quincy regarding a person in the street.  Upon arriving, officers found. a male with a gunshot wound to the leg in the street near the address.  As they were canvassing the area, they discovered another male in front of 3911 Quincy.  This male was dead at the scene (he was shot).  The dead male had a gun near his body.  While at the scene, the officers were contacted by the father of the resident of a home in the 5000 block of East 39th Terrace.  The father told officers his son had shot 3 men trying to break into his son's house.  A possible 3rd victim showed up at an area hospital.  Detectives are interviewing those involved to ascertain the exact details.

The right to bear arms obviously works. A few more weeks of action like this and most of the dangerouse criminals will be gone and the city will be a safer place.

I disagree. I still think we haven't seen anything yet. It's going to get worse.

Let's see... if I counted correctly that's victims 5 - thugs 0.

Hoo-rah for gun rights!

Honestly, how dumb must teenagers be these days. A day after a teen was shot and killed attempting to rob a convenience store at 27th and Prospect, another bright young man decides, "Hey, I am going to try this too." Not only did he fail to realize that he was dealing with the wrong clerk, but he also failed to realize that the 7-11 he was robbing was literally right next to the East Patrol station. After hearing about this one, I know now the real state of inner city education. There is none, or at least they do not teach the concept of "common sense".

If my numbers are correct, I believe KC is sitting at 102 or 103 homicides on the year.

Brad: I just checked -- we're at 101.

James Clayton: Excellent point. One of my coworkers says that East Patrol is literally a baseball's throw from that 7-Eleven.

Citizens are standing up against this crime wave. Good Job Kansas City. Enough is enough.
Fight back at crime.

At least these thugs will not reproduce anymore and be a leach on public services!

Thank God for the 2nd Amendment and Missouri's Conceal / Carry amendment!

Truth Teller, I agree. Crime and violence by lazy people who don't care is only going to get worse. If America sinks into a depression this could get as ugly as the 20's and 30's. I think America as a society is treading water a mile deep, just like our economy.

You clerks be thinking that you got one over on us players, we just gonna go get some bigger guns and assault rifles, something you law abiding folks don't have no access to. A man has gotta make a living, my govment check just won't buy all the things I need, crack, sloe gin, ammo, etc. Rock the vote, yo Obama 08

Mad props to our fine kcmo school system that produces somebody of devontae's intelligence. I know your gonna get me mf'er and all that. scary
