St. Paul police had to use riot gear and tear gas to keep a group of anti-war protestors (many chanting "F*** the police! F*** 'em!") from crossing a bridge to the Republican National Convention site after being warned not to.

I was at the DNC & all the police agencies represented were awesome. Everytime there was a problem they nipped it quick.

I know it isn't scientific, but most of the people I've talked to that really like her were already going to vote republican. To a lot of the people I know that were undecided, nominating someone who has so obviously allowed her religious views to influence her executive decisions (i.e. Iraq war and Alaska pipeline are God's will, opposition to abortion in cases of rape and incest, and refusal to support any sex ed other than abstinence only) has not pushed them towards voting republican.

Palin has a high approval rating because no one knows anything about her besides the cursory bio stuff. Just wait until people find out about who she really is. I doubt it. Sara errs on the side of life: Try to prevent a mistake, but if it happens, love the child.

Sex education was originally intended to prevent pregnancies and STD's. When I went to review the class,(no kids present) the subject was presented from a promiscuous point of view. Needless to say my kid was opted out. The teacher was NOT going to validate or promote promiscuity in my kid. Do I talk with them? You bet, on a regular basis. And no question is off limits. Kids all too well know what peer pressure is, and are searching for validation in their lives and identity. I chose to be involved with my kids sex education that explains the whys instead of the what and the hows.

1 in 4 women between the ages of 14-19 have had an STD and abortions world wide total 46 million a year. Tell me, in the age of protected sex and birth control, is sex ed working?

The sex ed class that I went through taught that abstinence was certianly best, and emphasized that heavily, but also taught about the other forms of birth control availible, their rates of effectiveness, and that most of them (other than condoms) don't prevent STD's at all.

To teach that abstinence is the only acceptable form of birth control, like Palin seems to want, or use scare tactics about other forms of birth control is like sending soldiers into combat and only teaching them how to use their flashlights. Its great if you're only going to be wondering around in the dark, but not much good if you're going to do anything else.

No law should ever be passed based solely on religious belief.

Besides, the federal government really has no place in education anyway. Edcuation regulation should be up to the states.
