I think her mistake was ordering food at a Waffle House in the first place ...
Hat Tip: Many thanks, D-Man and Gabe!

Hey there James, you can find Waffle Houses that make as good as food as anyone else. And as bad as anyone else.
Smashed, smothered, covered, chunked, spiced, diced, and peppered hashbrowns. Done right, a meal.

Say what you want to about Waffle House, but they make good food fresh and fast, and they make it right in front of you.
If they are going to spit in your food they have to the jewels to do it right in front of you.

Sorry, guys, but my Waffle House experience was awful. Waffle, hash-browns were ice cold. The soda was half water.

I lived in the south for a while, and Waffle House was on the Only When Drunk list. At least then you know that you'll already be hungover and miserable the next day, so what's a little more tabasco ass and cramping?
And I don't think I ever saw anything fresh in there. White to pale pink tomatoes don't count as fresh. neither does wilted iceberg lettuce.

You can send food back there.. I told you, you can see if they spit in it.

Like I said James, depends on the one you go to. If you are on the road, look for the one that has a LOT of rigs parked nearby and there is not a truck stop within 100 yards.

The WF in Grandview - once, ONCE, was WAY more than enough for me!! Rude and slow service, or cold food, at any price, and I will never set foot in the restaurant again. Hence, GV's WF could have a One-Cent-Porterhouse All-You-Can-Eat Special, and I would not bother going there.
Now, WF is not even marginally upscale, but they also are not the 'sameness' of many of the usual chain restaurants. They "hit the spot" when I've been there, though.
That said, there is a Waffle House on Frontage Road. I've eaten there several times, and I have never been disappointed. Their salads are always fresh, their soups have never been salty, and the service has always been fast, and friendly, and they take the antics of young kids in stride. It is a good place to eat and relax, with or without kids, at a fair and low price.

My daughter helped open that Waffle House...

Golfer: That's true -- truckers are leading experts on good road food.

I was at a waffle house in Alabama. The waitress asked me what I wanted. I said Donna I'll take the ... She asks how do you know my name? I replied, That's not your nametag?
But I think their food is as good as any.

I lived in Georgia while in the military and can say that I spent alot of late nights in a waffle house. The south is sprawled with them. One particular exit has two which can be seen from one another. For the most part many of the people that work there are just honest people trying to earn an honest wage. They're not there to make you sick or jack with your food.

I like their pecan waffles.

Waffle House....Better known as Waffle Hell. Waffle House is an automatic "NO". The trucks surrounding a good place to eat was in the past a good indication of good food. Not any more. It is usually an indication that it is the only place to eat that people can park 40 ton vehicles 80 Ft long. I drove a semi 9 yrs when I was single. It was a crap shoot whether or not a restaurant had good food. The best truckstop in my opinion for food and service is I-80 truck stop in Walcott Iowa.

I don't know her situation but, for someone that might not otherwise get a hot meal jail might be an option for them... At least they'd have a place to sleep and a hot meal. Ya never know that meal in the pokey might be better than the Awffle House meal was

No, It was Just outside of Augusta on I-20, but I'm sure that kind of thing can be found all over the place down there.

if you're on the subject of truck stops, Does anyone know if BETO junction still has good biscuits and gravy?

This actually happened to a friend of mine!
We all went out for waffles after partying -but one friend's order never came. When the rest of us were done and ready to leave, THEN his food came. He said he didn't want it and wasn't paying for it - so they called the police on him!
He was arrested on outstanding warrents. I kind of felt sorry for him... But, then again... he wasn't arrested for the waffles, he was arrested for the warrents.

I am glad Nemesis set ya'll straight.
That is exactly right, trucks go there because they have to.
You'll find many a trucker who would like to go somewhere else, not only is it cheaper, but better 95% of the time. Most truck stop food sucks..
Mammoth Truck stop in Fresno, CA is prolly the best out of the hundreds I have been to.
