MO sheriff refuses to imprison pregnant suspect
Even though the judge has ordered the woman -- who's facing charges of stealing, trespassing and careless-and-imprudent driving -- to be in jail. The sheriff is worried about a medical emergency. And he's afraid that his office will end up paying for the woman's delivery and hospital stay if she starts going into labor on their watch. Story is from Greene County.

And he saw/heard what happened in KC.

Here you go gurls!
A bun in the oven gets you out of jail for free!

Aw, I want to be pregnant!

What a medical plan: Get pregnant and get your self tossed in jail and have the county pay the medical bills. I guess they learned the trick from the illegals.

What you do is jail her and place her in the medical unit or the county hospital under guard. It would be the same as if she had some sort of illness that required that type of care.
The problem here was that they didn't even seek medical care for the pregnant inmate.

Well, she IS due in late November, which means she could deliver just about anytime. And she only gets a "free pass" until after delivery ....

Don't worry, Boys - It works for the guys too. You can't get pregnant but back in Reynolds County (where I grew up), the guys could get out of jail by having bad teeth. Same logic - the county didn't want to pay for the dental bills.
So, don't be jealous. (Besides, you can rot your teeth all by yourself. A gal needs a guy's help to get pregnant).

So I have high blood pressure, diabetes, acid reflux, broken disc in my back, flat feet, tore up shoulder, so does that mean I can do whatever I want and get out of jail free?
Posted by: DSW | Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 01:03 PM
Well, they'll end up paying anyway, it's a vicious cycle. Baby due this month - then she can go to prison - baby goes to state care - we all pay for it - baby grows up to be a criminal because he didn't have a stable life - baby goes to jail.
It's a sad world we live in...

Another baby is born, in the ghetto.

DSW- Sounds like you'd be better off just to take it easy rather than go on a crime spree in the first place.

I would like a list of things that you are still capable of doing .. for said crime spree... I mean without actually killing yourself in the process...
Sounds like it would be too painful for you anyway.. and we all know that men cant handle pain....

DSW,
You may have hit on something. Free healthcare and a place to rest and recouperate.
Searching,
Men have a high pain threshold, but eventually we resort to divorce for pain relief.

Getting medical treatment while in prison is socialized medicine.. at it's worst, you will have to wait until you are almost dead to get it.
Ralfred, that being said, it explains why the divorce rate is so high.. that is one of the things women do to get rid of pain.

If you read the headline real fast it looks like:
"MO sheriff refuses to impregnant suspect"

Aqua... you know that would never happen.

Small town, not much money to go around as it is. Why incur all those charges for misdemeanor charges. Not to mention if the baby is born with complications, if a c-section is needed or whatever. I think the sheriff did right by not wanting to pay to have this baby born. The charges and fines she faces just isn’t worth the time the jail has to put into her.

Jellybean, that's my former neck of the woods (probably one of the few on the planet who know where Bunker is); however this would preclude at least seventy percent of the population from incarceration. That ol' toothless defense is popular out in the woods.
