Suspect in Shawnee murder arrested in TX

Reed From Bob Cronkleton: Authorities in Texas this evening caught a Shawnee man wanted in the killing of his girlfriend. The arrest came several hours after he fled his burning car.

Brandon Nicholas Reed, 23, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. in a rural part of Dimmit County by personnel from the sheriff’s department and the U.S. Border Patrol.

Police had issued a warrant for Reed’s arrest in the slaying of Christina Osburn. The 21-year-old woman was found dead Thanksgiving night in her Shawnee apartment, near Nieman road and Shawnee Mission Parkway.

Earlier today, about 12:30 p.m., a truck driver called authorities, reporting a car was on fire in the roadway of U.S. 83 between Carrizo Springs and Catarina, Texas, according to Detective Tom Prudden, spokesman for the Metro Squad, which is investigating the Johnson County homicide with Shawnee police.

The trucker told authorities that he saw a man walking away from the 2002 Pontiac Grand Am that Reed had been driving. Prudden said the truck driver later identified the man as Reed.

I will never understand why a person thinks fleeing to Mexico will prevent them from being arrested. I guess their only hope is that Mexico will demand that the person not face the death penalty if sent back to the US.

That boy must have drove fast.

That is one of the creepiest photos I've seen in a while. That guy's eyes, ewww! Gives me chills.

i knew he needed help. he'd never have accepted it unless it was forced on him though. i feel so angry and sad that this happened. he's a good kid most ways, just never could control that anger. i wish they would have locked him up & forced therapy on him for a couple of years, maybe that poor young woman couldve had a chance. im sorry BRANDON, WE ALL FAILED YOU. BUT I'M SO MUCH SORRIER FOR Christina and her loved ones. god what an f-ing waste, it's tragic.

I was Christina's Athletic Director and teacher. She was a wonderful student and friend. She had dreams of marriage and kids. Excusing anger is a joke. Brandon is a heartless killer who needs to be judged in court. He robbed all of us of a wonderful person. He does not need therapy, he needs to be locked away for life. If they had dealt with him the first time his ex-wife's car was lit up by him, maybe Christina would have a chance. It is such a sad ending to a wonderful person. Saying he was a good or nice kid.. is a joke. We miss you Christina and hope justice will come for this killer.

for someone with a doctorate, you certainly dont read very well sir. i didnt Excuse A GIOOD DAMN THING HE DID. it was a statement of mourning by someone who knew the KID before he became the MONSTER. saying hes just a cold blooded killer is fair enough but it was not always so, so i'll thank you to back the hell up. what i said was that therapy MAY HAVE HELPED. past tense. i fail to understand how someone with a doctorate can be ignorant of the difference in saying what should have been done in his teenage years wheb problems began showing up, and telling me that i said he should be given therapy NOW as punishment. i agree he needs to be kept in prison for the rest of his life, precisely BECAUSE none of us who were close to him DID a damn thing to help him. i would NEVER excuse what he did to Christina, OR to Amanda & their boys, and you are a piece of crap for saying so. shame on you.

Jeez its hard to type on a phone. grr!

INNOCENT TIL PROVEN GUILTY... I KNOW BRANDON AND THIS DOESNT SEEM LIKE HIM ITS EASY TO TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU DONT KNOW... KEEP YOUR HEAD UP BRO IM PRAYIN FOR YOU... AND SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF CHRISTINA IM SURE SHE WILL BE MISSED

you cant possibly know him very well if you say that homicide doesnt 'seem like him'. believe me, ive lived with him for an extended period of time. violence is very much a part of his nature, what ive never understood is WHY. His parents are wonderful, respectable people, but the boys always had such anger... he was always the more easily provoked of the two, but its interesting to me that someone else who supposedly 'knows' him would say that it's NOT like him to kill a woman, or beat her, or set her car on fire, etc. I wasnt aware that he had anyone at all so snowed. In all the years ive known him he's been very cocky & proud of being a BillyBadAss(though im sure he wont appreciate THAT particular term for it). He's not some evil boogeyman, there at least WAS good in there somewhere, but the point of no return came a long time ago (i could just about name the date), & now that poor young lady &her baby have been brutally taken from all who love them & forget thanksgiving joy, ever again. Its a damn tragedy.
