There's a new firm that lets local revelers/boozehounds hire a designated driver for $25 per hour. Which is probably cheaper than car repairs, attorney fees and, you know, going to prison. But wouldn't it be even cheaper to just call a cab?

Not if you want to go bar hopping, or on to another friends house. Then to a bar.

should have approved the light rail... it would have been cheaper then this and a cab and you could go where you wanted to go

Have you ever tried to get a cab at bar closing time.. when you,re drunk?

This is a service that is a need and someone has decided to make money off of it. Should have acted on this 5 years ago when I thought about it then.

I've thought about it too. I have the Mini-Van already. I thought I could put up ads in select pubs on nights when the ex has the kids.
But then, I can't stand other people when they're drunk (although I quite enjoy myself when I'm drunk). :-)

and getting puke outta the van really sucks. especially between the seats.

Jellybean, I think they are exspecting "sober" drivers for the job. LOL

How about just drinking at home? It costs a small fortune to go barhopping and taking cabs. Not fun enough to justify.

Yep, thats for sure.
The van would need to be hosed out daily, heck if not after every drop off.

So in Missouri you drink if you are the passenger, correct? If so this is an awesome deal. Cabs don't let you drink in there vehicle, at least most of them.

Some of the nicer restaurants will pick you up and drive you home, if you are planning on being overserved.

The better question is;why get stupid drunk in the first place? If you have so many problems to forget how is getting drunk going to help? The problems are still there and more problems still to come as the result of getting drunk.Too many enablers in the bars who don't give a $hit what the outcome is going to be when they laugh while encouraging you to drink more and more.I really think they take delight in seeing mangled, bloodied bodies when the get the chance.

A little extreme there zip on the mangled part but I do agree with why get stupid drunk. A little beer buzz should be plenty.
Makes it alot easier to get up the next morning.

When the choice of paying a cab fare or taking your own car comes up, people are almost always going to take their own car. Especially those people who are too smashed to realize they shouldn't be driving.

People who do this are the same as a cab or bus company. They transport passengers "For Hire". Be sure you have a lot of liability insurance.

Rent a designated driver??
I'm available...if he's single and I can drive his Ferrari...no problem...

Zip, pull the stick out and have a beer. You are the poster child of why people need to drink.
