KS kindergarteners raise money for Linwood shooting victim

Nice story here about a kindergarten class from Liberal who collected money -- about $53 -- for Katherine Cook, a 5-year-old who was shot in the head while playing in her family's yard in Linwood. The students had been following her case in the paper and wanted to do something to help Cook, who's taking classes and undergoing therapy in Kansas City, the Journal-World reports.

Symbolism over substance.
Nice gesture, but what does it really get the victim?

Should the kindergarten class have raised more money?

I don't know -- for a bunch of little kids, raising $53 is like going to the moon. I think they did pretty good.

Truth Teller, their little hearts were in the right place. And to a kindergartner, that's a LOT of money. It also lets the victim know there are people out there who care. That's one of the best remedies for healing.

The victim feels love, that is what these kids have supplied. Love & hope can do alot for the well being of this child.

My kindergartner told me last night how she is going to get a new toy with her 6 coin's. 6 1 cent coin's, she thinks she is rich.. LOL

This is so sweet. And yes, $53 dollars is like winning the jackpot to a kindergartener. I remember as a kid having a lemonade stand and making $8 with a friend. We thought we were rich!
