Guess KC didn't see the memo from the other cities who have installed these things.
Huge cost & carry a huge operating expense.
No ticket money commin in.
Heck Funky needs to quit reading the TKC blog & read CSKC, as there has been at least 2 threads on red light camera's that I know of.

There's an ex-trooper in springfield who's suing over these things.
Argument: May have been my car, but proove it was me behind the wheel.
An unexpected supporter of decency, to be fair, but an appreciated voice nontheless.

CATHYS CAMERAS?
I believe back in July chairwoman of the public safety and neighborhoods committee CATHY JOLLY said “We are ready to roll on this” --- Today she opines “It’s never quick enough for me” because it will make a difference!
Why am I not surprised to see her enthusiasm after the probable loss of KC revenue and ensuing cost of enforcing her anti-smoking ban? -- With questionable merit her “George Orwell” response will be “these cameras will save lives” but the bottom line tells the story. --- No up-front cost to the city, but the installer gets paid back $4,500 Dollars "PER MONTH PER CAMERA" for an initial installation of 12 cameras.
Twelve Cameras? -- It was reported the council recently spent some $2.1 million to renovate their offices. Those “updates” included fifteen 32-inch high definition television sets! --- Believe this, there will be more than twelve “CITY COUNCIL STOP LIGHT” cameras in Kansas City!

We have these lights all over the St. Louis area. Apparently, you can get a ticket for turning right on red if you don't come to a complete stop behind the white line.
The camera got me once turning right when I went over the line about a foot trying to see if it was clear to turn. I came to a complete stop, but, technically, I ran a red light and could of gotten a $100 ticket and increased insurance rates for 5 years. Seems like cruel and unusual punishment to me. I never got a ticket, but I was worried. It flashed me again yesterday when I turned right after an extremely short yellow light. Now I wait my fate again. It sucks.
Every time I am at one of these camera lights it goes off (flashes) at least once but usually it goes off many times. Supposedly, someone investigates each case and throws out any "bogus" ones. Seems like an awful lot of work and time that could be better used fighting the insane murder rates we have here.

Better yet--KC should set up cameras with guns attached in those areas. That way, when they see these pu$$y little gangbangers around, they could make pre-emptive, justified strikes.

Traffic cams are all about tracking, surveilance and money making. It an electronic version of a police check point.

It's unbelievable that our authorities are opening the door to self prophecizing the "big brother is watching" theories. Won't be long now before the "thought crimes"(which are actually already in place) and camera's installed in every room of everybody's home, just to keep everyone honest and make a little money for the city.
Keep it up government. Let's make the U.S. the greatest, horrible place in the world to live.
