Twenty-five people were indicted in a drug sting that spanned several states and 1½ years, said, Acting U.S. Attorney for Kansas Marietta Parker said this morning.
Federal prosecutors said the persons were involved in a methamphetamine distribution operation. The group saw a profit of $1.25 million from the illegal venture from March 1, 2008, to Jan. 27, 2009. All 25 will appear in federal court in Kansas City, Kan. this week.
... The charges don’t allege that the suspects manufactured the drug in the Kansas City area, but authorities said the distribution was conducted throughout the area. The investigation involved numerous agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration and police departments including Independence, Kansas City, Overland Park, Kansas City, Kan. and Ottawa, Kan.
