These are the people in your neighborhood

From Sara Shepherd:

A Kansas City man was arrested early New Year's morning after allegedly yelling racist remarks and shooting up his neighbor's house.

Police were called about 1:15 a.m. to the 7900 block of Chestnut Avenue, where they found an intoxicated Michael W. McCormick, 56, in the neighbor's front yard. According to court documents:

McCormick was armed with a shotgun, a revolver and more than a dozen additional live rounds for each weapon. Officers found another shotgun in his backyard.

The victim, whose front-door glass was broken out, told police McCormick yelled a racial slur then fired his gun in front of the house. McCormick later told police he was intoxicated and that the last thing he remembered was leaving his house just before midnight to shoot off his guns.

Regarding the incident at his neighbor's, he said, "Nope, I don't remember that at all, but I can believe 200 percent that I did it."

McCormick went on to say that he was tired of listening to loud music and honking horns coming from his neighbor's house at all hours of the night.

After another racist remark, he told police: "I want him to feel real pain and learn that type of (expletive) won't be happening anymore. And when I get out of jail I'll start this whole process all over again if I have to because I'm not going to let him turn my neighborhood into the hood."

McCormick was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated.

I have read this story on two(2) different sites and neither has come out and said if the victim is Black or Hispanic, but when I saw the quote " I am not going to let my neighborhood turn onto the "hood"" I knew this was a White man that does not want a "N" next door. The thing I did not see was where Mr. McCormick had ever called the police about the noise.

I noticed the same thing, lucius. I posted on the article, and will repeat here, McCormick appears to be a redneck rectal sphincter with no social skills -- hence he probably never talked to his neighbor about the noise, asked him to tell his friends not blast the horn after a certain time of night, nor ever made police complaints if he couldn't manage the former. Just an angry jerk who belongs in jail where some big "N" will beat the snot out of him for morning exercise.

Maybe the guy is tired of butthole neighbors who are turning his neighborhood into a dump where decent people won't live.

Whats an "N"?

that's just someone using racist terms while trying to say the person in the story is a racist. Hypocrisy is a hoot.

Maybe he meant the "N" to stand for "neighbor"? haha

I am still confused as to why you can't use the "N" word but it is acceptable to call someone a "Redneck"? I am tired of the pity party BS on racism, while racism is considered a 1 way street (But, But, But....The history). If you got the nuts to account for a vast majority of the murders in KC, you should have the nuts to stand their and take it when someone calls you out for being an IDIOT!

Wow....with the weather warming up, all the TROLLS are coming out from underneath their bridges....Good one dude!

If you have the nuts to call a black person a "N" to their face, as opposed to oh.. say, anonymously in the comments section of a news site then you should have the nuts to stand there and face what comes next.

Chunky, and I'm betting you are an authority on other peoples nuts.

Jonathan you are right on the mark on this one. Racism is treated as a one way street and many people just don't have the cohesive thought to figure it out.

One of the ironies is that the N word that we are not supposed to use is one of the words that is used for brown in many parts of the world. Not knowing this is why some people become upset when they see a piece of furniture or other item with the N word on the label.

It may not be considered proper in this part of the world but we should place in context.

Of course the man may have been referring to a latino of some type rather than what is being pictured in most minds.

The guy was still in the wrong. He was drunk, in his neighbor's yard with loaded guns and armed for bear. The guy is a loser. I don't care what color he is.

Ah, I think you are confused.

You are right unnamed poster he was in the wrong. I just think the mindless drivle here that automatically demonizes the guy is pretty silly though. It just shows how shallow most of these people are.

You're correct, blarney. I just think he would have done the same thing if he had a beef with a neighbor of the same color.

Also, most of my redneck friends think the term "redneck" is a compliment.

For those that doubt the first part of my post please look up the latin name for black walnut.

Not quite the same spelling but still the N word.

That negro, duh. That isn't the "N" word.

Unnamed poster, I generally take redneck as a term of endearment. You can tell when some asswipe is trying to use it as a derogatory term though. Like I said it just shows how very limited in intelligence these folks are since they will whine about a derogatory term while using another one. Poster children for the failing public school system I guess is how I should look at it.

Blarn - I totally agree with everything you have said in this post. It didn't take me long to accomplish one of my 2009 resolutions, agree with blarneology 1 single time this year. Glad I could get it out of the way early, so we can get back to our normal relationship.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, see I'm a good motivator. I hope the rest of your year goes well.

BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAH, Now that's funny I don't care who you are.

I hope the rest of your year just keeps on getting better.

ooops, I thought the first one didn't post.

Let me just say I'm not condoning what this guy did, but I do understand his frustration. I, too, have the inconsiderate, disrespectful, and rude neighbors here in Northtown, that he has obviously been putting up with for quite some time now in his neighborhood and, if I believed in guns and had one, you all would probably be reading about me next week. Unfortunately for me, I don't believe in violence to take care of a situation...I call the cops. After three months in my new place, I've tried everything I can to let my neighbors know they are loud, noisy, rude, and inconsiderate but to no avail. My next step it to take them to court for interferring with my peace and quiet lifestyle. They play their surround sound system at night, when they get home from work, around 11 p.m. until about 3 a.m. I have to sleep between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., like normal people who have normal jobs do; they let their kids run up and down the hallways at all hours, again disturbing my peace of mind and quiet lifestyle. If I had known they lived there, I wouldn't have moved in here and signed a two year lease, so I'm kind of stuck now. I'm also thinking of suing the landlords for not providing me with a safe, quiet, and productive place to live but I don't know how far I'll get with that. The last time I went over to complain on a Sunday night at 1:30 a.m., and ask that they turn their music/tv/noise down, the man, a tall, imposing black man, tried to grab at me, so I ran back to my home and called the cops, landlord, lawyers, and neighbors to let them all know what had just happened. They have all advised me to take them to court. I know they read this stuff everyday, so I'm hoping they will realize that it's them and turn their sh*t down, or they will leave me with no other choice but to take them to court. Please people, be considerate. Don't aggravate your neighbors to this point and this stuff won't happen.

If you don't believe in arms, then you better carry a bat next you go over if he's as BIG as you made it sound:)

hit the knee caps:)

KC,

You can find legal remedy. If your landlord isn't holding up their end of the bargain by enforcing noise restrictions, they submit your rent through the court and let your landlord know. If they don't address the problem, then you get your rent back.

The best thing I can tell you is to be suspicious of "drug odors" and call the police to report them if and when you notice them. First leave a note that you know about the drug use in the apartment. Then call the police to report drug activity. Lots of foot traffic, etc..

OOooh...your a bi%@h..146
