The murder of David Allen Masters

Masters used to be the prosecuting attorney in Macon, Mo., in the north-central part of the state, serving from 1990 to 1998, when he lost an election. His life spiraled out of control, and he ended up dealing drugs near Springfield. Authorities say he was killed in 2005 when his two roommates tied him to a chair because they were fighting over rent money. (And his unwanted sexual advances toward a female roommate.)

Authorities accuse the two roommates of repeatedly injecting him with cocaine until he died. The tox report said he had 40 times the lethal dose of coke in his system. One of the roommates has pleaded guilty, the other is facing trial now. (TruTV, no less, was on hand for opening arguments, the News-Leader reports.)
