From Brian Burnes: Wilfredo Pujols will serve 15 years for the November 2007 hit-and-run death of an Independence teenager.
Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Jack Grate sentenced Pujols today in Independence. Pujols, 26, had pleaded guilty last December in the death of Christopher Cooper, 17.
Cooper, then a student at Truman High School, was struck while riding a bicycle.
According to witnesses and police accounts, Cooper was crossing Noland Road at Osage Street in Independence when he was struck by a car driven by Pujols.
Pujols in December pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder, one count of resisting arrest and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. A count of driving while intoxicated was dismissed.

I thought they took your jewelry when you went to jail.

D-Man, this could be the initial photo they took of him in Independence the night he was booked and they wanted to get a shot of him as he is usually seen, in case some good Defense Lawyer got him out on bond and he decided to take off.
This is a sad story all the way around. the families and friends affected by this should have prayers said for them.

Strange, isn't it, how one Pujols turns out to be a professional athlete, and the other, a drunk running from the police killing innocent people.

Isn't this one where the Indy police were on the hot seat for joking about the dying kid?

Yes Really it is. They called Chris a roach that wouldn't die. Now that Pujols is in a cage, the Independence Police Department, the City of Independence, AMR and Pujols will all be held accountable and responsible. The gloves are off, and no longer will I be stifled. IPD, I'm coming for you. Anthony Smith, Dale Daughtery, cherish what time you have left in your jobs. I'm taking them. No child should lay in the street for 11 MINUTES WITHOUT BEING CHECKED. I hope you suffer long and deep. I hope the images of Chris lying in that street haunt you. I suppose they won't though; you didn't think he was worth your time and care that night, and I'm sure you don't give him a moment's thought even today. Once you're standing in the unemployment line, you might think twice about your viscous and callous treatment of an innocent child. God help you all. You have no idea what's coming for you.

Cee Cee (Cheryl Cooper) You have some serious issues. I won't pretend like I can even imagine the pain you must be going through to lose your son but you should really think about getting some professional help.

Amanda-you can tell me what I need to do when your child is lying in the street bleeding and an Independence officer calls him a roach that won't die. Until then, shut up.

I'm very sorry for your loss, CeeCee.

Cee Cee... I totally agree with your actions in going after the cops that said your son was like a roach and won't die. That is horrible!! I guess my comments stem from other blogs where you bash Wilfredos family members who had nothing to do with this tragedy. Again I am truly sorry for your loss, I just also feel sorry for his wilfredos family (NOT HIM) but his family!!
