Prosecutors say Dewey Dixon, 32, is a member of the Juggalo Rydas, which police are classifying as a street gang. He reportedly fired into the apartment as retaliation last September -- only it was the wrong apartment. It doesn't sound like anybody was hurt. Officers say they found marijuana, brass knuckles and a blackjack on Dixon when he was arrested. The release is available after the jump!
A Shawnee Mission man who belongs to the “Juggalo Rydas,” which police say is a criminal street gang, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for firing shots into a Platte County apartment. Dewey W. Dixon, 32, received the sentence June 18 after pleading guilty to two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, property damage, and possession of marijuana.
Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said, “This man fired a Mac-10 semiautomatic machine gun into an apartment in an act of gang revenge. That is bad enough by itself. But to make matters worse, the defendant fired at the wrong apartment and could have killed someone who had absolutely nothing to do with his gang dispute.”
On September 20, 2008 at 1:55 a.m., deputies with the Platte County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the 6300 block of Hogan Drive. Witnesses reported that shots had been fired into an apartment building. Deputies arrested Dixon and found that he was armed with brass knuckles and a concealed blackjack, both of which are illegal deadly weapons. Dixon also had marijuana and a homemade pipe with burnt marijuana residue.
Dixon told investigators he had fired into the apartment in response to an altercation between another member of his gang, the Juggalo Rydas, and two other men. Dixon said that members of the Juggalo Rydas are “like family.” When Dixon was informed that he had shot into a vacant apartment, he said he had gotten the wrong apartment. Dixon also admitted to “tagging” the door of the apartment door where the two men lived by writing “Juggalo Rydas” in an unknown red substance.
Zahnd’s office charged Dixon with breaking a law specially written to fight drive-by shootings and similar acts of gang violence. The law carries a mandatory 15-year sentence.
Zahnd said, “We don’t have an overwhelming gang problem in Platte County—and we intend to keep it that way. Gang members who come to Platte County intending to do harm should know that they will be met by the full force of the law.”
The case was investigated by the Platte County Sheriff’s Department. It was prosecuted by First Assistant Prosecutor Mark Gibson and Assistant Prosecutor Jaclyn Taylor.

Wow! You can drive drunk, kill a pedestrian and leave the scene in Jackson County, and only serve 120 days. Seems unfair to me.

Is that like, a hairstyle he's sporting? Those four little braids? Or does he just think he is actually cool and potentially African-American?

"semiautomatic machine gun"? That's an oxymoron if ever I saw one. Do other gun guys agree?

More proof.
Rich kid from Mission Hills, driving, drunk, kills another young man--serves 120 days and gets off.
This guy? Poor, stupid schmuck, kills no one, hurts no one--gets 15 years.
Take that.

just because you say your a juggalo or juggalette don't mean you are one. the juggalo family is not a gang, where a family, and any one who thinks we are a gang don't understand us, if you call your-self a juggalo/juggalette and think we are a gang then your not a juggalo/juggalette.

In my opinion, most certifications (i.e. Microsoft, A+, etc.) are useless pieces of paper that, at most, show somebody spent some time scanning through books or sample tests and can regurgitate answers to questions that might appear on a "certification" exam.
Hands-on industry experience is far more valuable and useful in the real world. It proves (1) that you indeed possess sufficient knowledge of a given topic/technology, and, (2) if you are confronted with a problem or situation in which you lack expertise, you are resourceful enough to obtain (whether it be via colleagues, reading manuals, conducting web research, calling vendor support, etc.) the information necessary to arrive at an effective solution.
