Typical LA action, especially for the gangs.

They should have been in church, reading the good book.

Having lived there, I can certify that LA sucks. Build a wall around that dump and keep these illegal aliens away from America.
Posted by: Mike | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 07:49 AM
mhmm yeah right because white Americans are never violet...
Posted by: becca | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 07:53 AM
NO, but they can spell
Posted by: Searching | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 08:05 AM
Also, I have reread all comments thus far, and you are the only one that has mentioned race. Am I missing something?
Are white people not allowed in gangs in LA?
Posted by: Searching | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 08:06 AM
The Lakers wear purple and gold, I think she really did mean violet. But "these illegal aliens" could never be construed as a mention of race, could it?
Hint to Mike, building a wall around LA won't keep them away from America, as LA is already IN America.
Posted by: JUNGLE JIM | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 08:19 AM
Nothing like this happened in Miami when we won in 2006. Its just an LA thing. I hate that place. Lakers suck!!!!
Posted by: Nuke | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 08:51 AM
Animals. Typical Laker's Fans - NO CLASS, NO COUTH, NO BRAIN
Posted by: D12 | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 08:54 AM
Apparently the Lakers don't suck... just the idiotic fans who rioted do. I grew up there... I'm still a Laker fan but would never think to act that way.
Posted by: T-Bone | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 08:55 AM
JJ.. I think illegal aliens is an equal opportunity hate.
Posted by: Searching | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 08:55 AM
I hate that gang mentality. One person gets a stupid idea and the rest go along like mindless sheep. Kinda like the right wing extremists. (and yes, left wing extremists, too.) It makes me sad. It really does. Whatever happened to just doing the RIGHT THING; not hurting people, their property and, in some cases, their feelings. TRYING to get along...Work things out. We are so uncivilized anymore.
Posted by: jeano | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 09:04 AM
I lived there for 32 years, and yes white people are aloud in gangs; But how many do you see in the pictures. It's not the white gangs that are celebrating this way. It's the wetback gangs that are.
Posted by: Brian | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 09:38 AM
Becca, white American's are only violet when choking or being spray painted. Maybe even after a severe beating. But a normal and healthy White American is never ever Violet.

oh, did the Laker's win? *yawn*
Posted by: aqua | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 09:45 AM
I think when the community acts like this the title should be taken away from the team. Until something is done this will always happen, it always does. Stupid people do stupid things.
Posted by: Ruth | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 09:53 AM
"Hey Paco, let's go riot!"
"OK! Hey, wait a minute, if we riot, they take away our team's title!"
"Hey your right, I forgot about that...let's go to church instead!"
Posted by: G | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:12 AM
Brian is right... 90%+ people pictured are Latino (Mexican). I know... it's the photographer that only took pictures of that race!!
Ruth is right too!! Why vandalize stuff when your team won?? Idiots!! Take the title away!!
Did KC trash the place back in 1985 when the Royals won?
Did Lawrence go up in flames when KU won in 1988 and 2008?
Is KC more sophisticated than LA??
Posted by: Bohica | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:35 AM
It's just the NBA. Who gives a rats ass about the NBA anyway. The most boring professional sport there is.
Posted by: whichonespink | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:42 AM
I am embarrased for my city.
In a time of celebration and happiness, there seems to be, in Los Angeles, a group of nitwits who wait for this opportunity to act like the uneducated, violent, bullies that they are.
Despite plea’s by Kobe, Jeanie Buss, Phil Jackson and the rest of the Laker team…and a personal plea at his press conference by Derek Fisher, who looked directly into the camera’s and asked Los Angeles residents to be cool, it became apparent that the people in my city cannot, or choose not to behave themselves.
It makes us look like a city of thugs and criminals, who cannot enjoy success any other way than to be stupid and violent.
Congratulations to my Lakers.
I appologize for the actions of my city, who once again, prove that we are the most irresponsible sports city in america.

"The most boring professional sport there is..." Yeah, and to think I missed out on that curling tournament or that explosive women's field hockey final last week.

I hear professional bowling is making a comeback.

I think KC fans should riot at Arrowhead this year when the Chumps come in last place again.

Is it too late to give California back to Mexico?
Posted by: Joe White | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:21 AM
So, since California is broke. The inner city will once again complain about urban blight, no job opportunities, no new industries, etc. after they burn and destroy another section of the city. No one builds a ghetto, the residents make them!
Posted by: 007 | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:23 AM
Hmmm, good thing they said LA, Thought it was Detroit...
They can both burn to the ground..
Posted by: fiestadude | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:24 AM
You would think they could just look up that #16 guy on a roster or something.
Posted by: Tim P | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:24 AM
Ese,
Let's go bust some sheet, get me some and represent! I'm tired of the "man" holding me down. I mean look how they treat us? They make us learn in our native tongue,Spanish, make us take the free government money, oppression, Ese, oppression!!
Posted by: Where are the white people in the riot pictures? | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:25 AM
Drasil... at least that would be a half-assed reason to riot!
Now to think of it... if that's the way LA celebrates... it sure looks an awful lot like the Rodney King fiasco!!
RLM.. you show that there is class in your city!!
Posted by: Bohica | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:26 AM
I would have trashed that Ford Focus too, those things are junk.

Too funny R2!

A big part of California's debt comes from the Enron bailout (maybe 1/3 or so?) and the good old Governator who made the deal to not try to get their money back during all the energy market manipulation.
Posted by: Marvin | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 12:02 PM
And you thought only Soccer (EU football) fans had hooligans?
Posted by: Drasil | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 12:17 PM
Enron? Strettttch....try government entitlements (illegals sign up here)and good ole government spending.....could it be true? Typical LA class.....

Click on the FoxNews link and go to the second picture and look at what the trouble maker is wearing...a long white T-shirt and droopy necklace...
The Cordish Company is not racist with the P&L dress code, they just happen to open their eyes to the world around them.

I don't care about race, illegal immigrants or anything of that unimportant information. I'm Hispanic, and only 2nd generation American, and Im a Civil Engineer with my Degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, so there goes the all Mexican's etc. are stupid. Either way, I can't understand why these idiot fans act like this, I have to agree with others that say L.A. is the most irresponsible sports town, imagine if we had an NFL team here!!??!? And if it was the raiders!?!? It seems like these Laker fan's are just the bored moronic Raider fans, waiting for football season to come around. There's no reason to mess up the city like this. They want to whine and moan about not having a parade, well imagine how much these officers were paid to be there last night, and imagine how much the damage will cost? The lakers should NOT have a parade because they have irresponsible fans, and if the fans would act right, then the Lakers would gladly host a parade. I can't stand that these idiots would act like this. And Im a Laker fan! But I celebrated at home, by drinking a couple beers with family, and having a nice time. Not burning fires, flipping cars, or acting like it's a jail yard riot.

Hey maybe they learned this from K State football fans.
Posted by: Davey Smith | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 01:19 PM
How is this a race issue all of a sudden? Haven't you seen the post-championship riots after college games?
Posted by: Marvin | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 01:40 PM
The one thing I hate about these articles is that they only show the bad times of the night they don't show any of the good. When I was there is a mix of whites, blacks, latinos, and asians, it was a fun night filled with LAKER FANS. There are those extremist however that do go overboard but it has nothing to do with race or gangs it just has to do with the fact that we LOVE L.A.

Bohica: "Did KC trash the place back in 1985 when the Royals won?"
"Did Lawrence go up in flames when KU won in 1988 and 2008?"
Well, set a couple of classic cars caught fire when too much shredded paper was dumped on them during the parade in 1985.
Lawrence did go up in flames in 1863. That was the year the Bushwhackers defeated the Jayhawkers!

As one of the 3,834,315 residents of Los Angeles who wasn't out rioting and being arrested last night, I detest your condemnation of our entire city based on the arrests of 25 individuals.
While I understand that from your perspective of living in Kansas City, that it appears all the residents of the city are in those pictures, I can assure you that they are not. There are plenty of decent people who live here, and you should be careful to judge the masses based on the actions of a few.

Why so socialist...
I wasn't in KC in 1985. I was in LA while stationed in the Marine Corps.
And it wasn't the Bushwackers.. it was Quantril... who by the way, wasn't from Missouri.
Posted by: Bohica | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 03:17 PM
Very sad.

Of course, silly. White Americans are white, not purple.

Bohica - the score of the Lawrence raid was: Quantrill 183 - Kansas 0. And yes - they were called Bushwackers, please read your civil war history a little closer. He was originally from Dover, Ohio - but where you were born meant little in the civil war.

Sorry about the repeat, I didn't notice the cut and paste error.
Posted by: Drasil | Monday, June 15, 2009 at 06:28 PM
Thanks, Drasil.
There was one poor, drunken Bushwacker that didn't quite get out of town fast enough. Larkin Skaggs was shot, scalped, hanged, riddled with bullets, stoned, dragged behind a horse, and his mutilated corpse was dumped in a creek. The Kansas Jayhawkers get one point if there is no penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. On the other hand, the Jayhawkers looted and burned several towns in Missouri prior to the "pay back" raid on Lawrence.
Bohica:
I was in KC in 1985. When the Royals won the series, the celebration here was pretty sedate. People in other cities complained that we didn't riot at all. The funny thing was instead of ticker tape, which was no longer around, green computer forms were put through a shredder and dumped on the victory parade from the high rise buildings along the route. It piled up in the street, and at least one classic car, passing over a pile of the shredded paper, caught fire. That was our 1985 riot of destruction. Baseball is only a game.
If anyone else would like to pillage and burn Lawrence again, let me know. Maybe we can set up a meet-up group.
