Calls about water bills are a scam

From Brian Burnes:

Blue Springs police are warning residents about an apparent telephone scam.

Police said Tuesday that they have received multiple reports from residents saying they have been called by individuals identifying themselves as representatives of the city’s water department. The callers have told residents that they needed to make an immediate payment to continue service.

Representatives of the city’s water department do not initiate such calls, police said Tuesday. Anyone receiving such a call should notify the Blue Springs police at                816-228-0150        .
