Did Scott Roeder give money to Operation Rescue?

Roeder

Judy Thomas got a series of jailhouse interviews with Scott Roeder, the man accused of killing abortion doctor George Tiller back in May. The whole thing is worth reading, but here are some of the interesting bits:

* Operation Rescue has been pretty emphatic that Roeder was NOT a part of their group -- which has apparently hurt Roeder's feelings. OR has also condemned the murder, saying it hurts the pro-life movement. Snip:

“He said that I never was a member and I never contributed any money,” Roeder said. “Well, my gosh, I’ve got probably a thousand dollars worth of receipts, at least, from the money I’ve donated to him.”

Roeder said he wrote Newman a letter from jail.

“I told him, ‘You better get your story straight because my lawyer said it’d be good for me to show that I was supporting a pro-life organization.’ ”

OR says it doesn't believe any donations were made, but notes that it gets money from several thousand people.

* He might try a jury-nullification defense.

* He thinks he might spend several years in prison, then get released in his 70s. “Well, yeah, it’s a possibility,” he said. “I suppose, if it’s 25 to life … I’ll be around 71 or 72 years old if I was to be let out on parole. A lot of people still have a lot of life left at that age.”

I'm glad Scott Roeder stopped babykilling abortionist George Tiller from murdering any more innocent children. He should receive a medal instead of being in jail.

No matter what your stand on abortion, this man had NO RIGHT to kill Tiller. I would have liked to see Tiller ran out of business or put in jail, but it is not the rules of our society to be judge, jury and executioner.
I think this man getting life in prison is not a fair trade. He should get a lethal injection, but it is not up to me to carry that out...it is up to the courts of our country to deal with him.
Donald Spitz, try giving medals to the true heroes of our society...those who save lives. Not murdering scum like this man.

Once again I see a person that is supposedly religious spewing hate. I thought that we were supposed to condemn the sin but forgive the sinner. This is one of the reason that I personally can not belong to any "Christian" religion.

That's very christian of the Rev. Spitz. After all, didn't Jesus teach us that if a man strikes your cheek, you should turn the other cheek....just long enough to cock back and slap the #$&% out of that sucka so hard his teeth rattle!

What Jesus said about not returning personal insults has nothing to do with defending babies from being killed. God bless Scott Roeder.
