It's sort of like an Ambert Alert, but for the elderly. Here's what the AP reports:
For police to issue the alert, they must determine that the missing person is at least 65 and has a medical or mental condition that reduces the person’s ability to make reasonable, sound decisions. It is also the responsibility of the police to deactivate the Silver Alert as soon as possible after the person is found.
