looks like the boxer is right-handed.

Years ago, I had a neighbor who was a retired boxer. He'd enter those Tough Man competitions and beat the cr@p out of guys less than half his age.

Yes, that's a right handed boxer.
Boxing (and baseball to an even greater extent) is a sport you can successfully take part in looong past your 20s... success comes from mass, strength, and knowing how to take a hit/avoid a hit, rather than agility and reflexes. (Yes, they matter too, but less so than in, say, basketball.)

That's funny. I worked weekend graveyards plus summers in a convenience store in the 80's when I was in college. We had a regular customer who was in his early 60's, an ex-Golden Gloves boxer. He was about 5'6", blond & red-faced, everybody knew him & he was wicked tough. Nobody messed around when he was in the store. He was affable & friendly but he was still very fit. Kids didn't even swipe a candy bar when he was around, he could run them down and take it from them. He was pretty cool, I never knew his name but everybody in the neighborhood knew who he was.

anarchanon,
You watch too many Rocky movies. Agility and reflexes are what make a boxer. Ask George Foreman circa 1975.

Marvy, I think what he's referring to is the ability to have near-perfect timing, which makes it appear as though the reflexes aren't as quick and cat-like. In reality, the vision, experience, and ability to read an opponent's body languge are what makes it seem so smooth and natural for an experience boxer. Or at least that's what I've read in Ring Magazine.

Glad the thug got the cr$$ beat out of him.
At least the homeowner did the beating, otherwise some cop would have gotten in trouble for what is simple justice.

Interesting to see how the UK handles this. I imagine there is a US prosecutor who would love to charge the old guy. And do not forget our beloved ACLU would want to stand up for the rights of the knife weilding youth. How dare this man defend himself from a gentle kid with a knife?
