This is the street where an elderly woman was killed while working in her yard after a van ran off the street and struck her. Police say speed was NOT a factor -- they suspect the driver's medication might have played a part. But neighbors are upset about past traffic problems, and they're pushing the city to do something.
So, starting Monday, police will spend about eight hours daily patrolling that area, on 99th Terrace between Switzer and Antioch. Here's another fun factoid from the city's press release:
Prior to a fatality accident last month along 99th Terrace, five separate traffic enforcement efforts were done over a period of four days before the incident.

Believe it when you see it.

The eight hours? 10 pm to 6 am. You know, no traffic.

Oh, you'll see it all right. In a ridiculous show at first, then the force will ease up after the newness wears off.

Fact: The person that caused this accident was not speeding.
