Ed Muscare -- a.k.a. "Uncle Ed," a former TV host here in Kansas City -- goes to court in Florida today over allegations that he violated his probation. (Muscare was convicted several years ago of a sex crime, molesting a teenager, and is a registered offender.) One of the terms of his probation is that he can't use the Internet. Muscare actually has a modest following on YouTube, where there are a handful of videos featuring him. Some of those fans are now rallying to his side. (One called him "one cool grandpa.")
Another local blogger, Midtown Miscreant, has been following this one pretty closely over the last several months. He's not impressed with the "Free Ed" movement:
The recent arrest of Ed for ignoring the terms and conditions that come with being a convicted sex offender is a glaring example of the mindset of your typical tree jumper. Victimizer plays the role of victim, it was 20 years ago, it only happened once, it was only a small molestation, nobody was hurt, yadda yadda, et al.
The real victims usually see things differently, the incident generally effects them for the rest of their lives.
Hat Tip: Many thanks, Midtown Miscreant!

I totally agree with MM about "Uncle Ed." However, I did enjoy "All Night Live" on Channel 41 in the early 80s.
