Police selling motorized La-Z-Boy on eBay

Chair

Just a quick update about the man arrested for DUI while he was allegedly driving a motorized La-Z-Boy chair. Authorities in Wisconsin have seized the device and are selling it online, where the bids were north of $2,000 at last report.

Hat Tip: Many thanks, cripjak!

And just where do the proceeds go?

Yeah, if you arrest someone for DUI in a car, they dont take your car. if they are going charge him based on the whole motorized principle.. why do they get to keep his "car"

Yeah... I'm a bit confused about this also. Why do they get to keep his chair?

Someone explain to us why they are allowed to confiscate and sell his property. It's not like he was smuggling dope in it.

Apparently, in Wisconsin, if you get DWI number three, your vehicle can be seized or it may have been seized in lieu of a monetary fine.
BTW, the buyer/seller Q&A on the Ebay page is hilarious.

Is this where I go to make a bid on the motorized wheelchair? If so, place $5.00 down for me.

in minnesota they'll impound your vehicle and if you dont retrieve it in so many days it becomes property of the state.
