Supporters of Roeder, the man accused of murdering abortion provider George Tiller, say they're planning an online auction to raise money for his defense, Judy Thomas reports. (It's not clear if it'll actually happen -- eBay has a policy that should bar this sort of thing from happening.) Among the items to be auctioned: an Army of God manual for disrupting abortion clinics, drawings from Roeder himself and a prison cookbook compiled by the woman who shot and wounded Tiller back in 1993.

Freaks are everywhere.

Even though I completely disagree with what this man is alleged to have done and his beliefs, I want this man to get the best defense money can buy.
Because then once he is found guilty, there can be no reasonable excuse for anyone to claim this man as a martyr or as anything other than a convicted murderer.
Of course there will be those extremists who will still see the killing of Dr. Tiller as a justified act, but I want there to be as little support for their position as possible.

I personally hope the jury turns him loose. If Tiller's jury had been honest, he would have never been shot. Roeder was incensed that the pro-aborts on Tiller's jury turned him loose. Turnabout is fair play. If the rule of law didn't apply to Tiller, why should it apply to Roeder?
Of course, it will, the abortion industry's money has bought it a great deal of power throughout the Kansas "legal" system.

In order for him to become a martyr.. doesn't he have to die?
Posted by: Searching | Monday, October 26, 2009 at 09:40 AM
I cannot believe the ignorance of this auction.
ManinaMission- I hope you are right, but knowing the woman for as many years as my family has, she will view this as revenge for the unborn. She is an extremist and gives those of us who focus on all life a bad name.
This man murdered another human being in cold blood at a church- where life is sacred and he did it in God's house. To raise money for this whackjob is insane to me and really p!sses me off.

Hey I may not be for abortion but trying to support a murderer turns my stomach just as much as abortion does.

With any luck at all, Searching.

Searching,
In the traditional sense, I suppose you would be right. However, I was thinking more in the sense of not giving people like Herbert Spencer any valid legal angle to claim some sort of legal manipulation, improper trial, etc., for this man being imprisoned.
But I am also glad that the death penalty is not being sought in this case because I don't want him being seen as a literal martyr either.

Herbert Spencer -
The problem for you and those who believe as you do is that the law was applied fairly and correctly to Tiller based on the evidence. I am sorry you are unhappy with the result, but that does not make it incorrect or invalid. Kline and Maxwell did everything they could to try to prejudice the jury pool and manipulate the courts to achieve their ideological goals and failed to pervert our laws for their narrow ends.
While you are researching why there was no valid case against Tiller, you might also look into the historical Herbert Spencer who would actually have supported the use of abortion, including mandatory abortion in some cases.

I thought killers couldn't profit from their crime. Shouldn't the money go to Tiller's family. If they want to help him, cut him a check. But his personal assets should be frozen and go to pay restitution if he is convicted.

M I M you saved me a lot of typing. Thanks.

If corrupt juries let dangerous, monstrous abortionist quacks off for illegal post-viable killings in their abortion mills, why wouldn't they let a shooter off for justifiable vigilante homicide?
Anyway, the shooter is mentally unbalanced.
Let him off with treatment, like the drug dealers who shoot down women and children in our streets and in their homes.

How about we seize the assets of Tiller and pay restitution to the estates of the babies he slaughtered? How about we seize the assets of the state of Kansas, an accomplice to the death of those babies, and pay restitution to the estates of those babies?
While we're at it, how about, since we as a nation support choice, we let Roeder have his choice to kill (just as we let Tiller and the mothers have their choice to kill)?
Let's be fair and consistent, after all.

Cindy,
I have just made a donation in your name to Planned Parenthood. Perhaps instead of just railing and ranting about abortions, you might think of what you can do to reduce the demand for abortion through increased funding of sex education, and encouraging the use of contraception.
Have a great day.
Posted by: Man in a Mission | Monday, October 26, 2009 at 01:45 PM
Why should you give money to the families of the aborted babies? The parents are equally as guilty of murder.
Posted by: Searching | Monday, October 26, 2009 at 01:49 PM
I think this is a publicity stunt. His "people" want to keep his name and their cause in the headlines.
I'm sure Roeder will have very good legal representation. An attorney can't afford to buy that kind of advertising.

Surprising how many people don't know the difference between a fetus and a baby.
Is it legal for domestic terrorists to raise money on ebay?

What's the penalty for flooding the auction with fraudulent bids?
Posted by: Concerned Citizen | Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 12:35 AM
This man committed premeditated murder. He should receive the death penalty. Anyone who helped him should as well.

Surprising how many people don't know the difference between a fetus and a baby.
Posted by: Michelle | Monday, October 26, 2009 at 08:37 PM
It's only a fetus, when you conceived it under circumstances that dont suit you...
Otherwise, it's a baby.
That about sums it up doesnt it?
Posted by: Searching | Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 07:08 AM
Yes, Searching. You see, contrary to the pro-liar concept of a woman being a flowerpot in which a seed is planted, a woman's body BUILDS the baby. It is almost always aborted when it is a *fetus*, not when it has become a *baby*.
Since building the baby costs the woman a great deal, sometimes her life, it should be up to her whether she wants to take on that task.
