KC teen charged as adult in Father's Day slaying

From Tony Rizzo: Jackson County prosecutors this week charged Dawayne L. Patterson with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and illegal discharge of a firearm. His bond is set at $200,000. Patterson, 16, was initially charged as a juvenile in the June 21 fatal shooting of Eric C. Taylor, but he was certified to stand trial as an adult.

Taylor was driving in the area of 35th Street and Agnes Avenue when a passenger in another car fired into his vehicle, hitting him in the torso, according to police reports. Police said a Father’s Day card from his children was found in his pocket.
