Good morning, Mr. Abbott and fellow Costellos. TGIF, and it's Good Friday, too! (Payday)
2 from the great state of
TaxesTexas (Sorry, a bit of dyslexia teher):Gov. Ryan ignored the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles recommendation for clemency, and Robert Lee Thompson was executed Thursday for murdering a convenience store clerk. Why the clemency recommendation? Because Thompson's robbery buddy pulled the trigger - and received a life sentence.
A Texas state legislator has written an interesting op-ed piece, nominating the 60 wrongfully convicted people who've been released from Texas prisons by DNA evidence for the Dallas Morning News' "Texan of the Year" award.

Don't miss the Star's latest report on the Mohler case. Today's Graceless* article focuses on the latest accusations from the women, including "sex in a church."
At the very end (where fewer people see it), Donald Bradley reports on the Community of Christ's statement that the Mohlers left the church in 1982. I can't think of any reason the church's statement should carry less credibility than the whacky women.
*Graceless n. A prosecutorial attitude calling for a unique sequence of events in "shocking" criminal cases. The sequence starts with suspicion and arrest, followed by investigation, execution, and trial. Named after blonde TV shrew Nancy Grace, who never saw a suspect that wasn't guilty, and anyone disagreeing gets cut off.

Good Morning Keith!

Good morning, Search-a-rooney! Hope you have a good day.

Good morning folks!
My interview went absolutely great last night and I'm hoping that I hear some real good news soon from them.
I don't mean to talk smack of my current employer, but man, they are horrible and I do not recommend anyone ever work for them. Just got my first paycheck for 1 week of work, I just realized I would have been taking home more if I stayed on unemployment... I soooo need out of this job.

Hey, did anyone else notice the comment count on yesterday's OT? 232 as of 7a.m. this morning. We sure were gabby yesterday. Congrats Fearless Leader and fellow bloggers and bloggerettes.
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:17 AM
R2D2, best of luck to you. I can't think of many things worse than working for someone who treats you like that. Isn't it amazing how some places survive, even thrive?
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:19 AM
Be sure and post you employers name, as soon as you are outta there. LOL
Sorry R2, I have worked for a place like that before.. I didn't stay long. You cant keep good employees by treating them like cattle.
Hope they haven't branded you yet.
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:24 AM
I think the comment count was due to a new attitude (some of it mine) on behavior, at least on the OT. A couple of new posters and the return of some old ones. I miss Carebear too, I wish she would come back. This did used to be the place where we would all come to have fun.
I blame Obama. LOL
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:26 AM
[Keith falls out of the chair laughing at Searching blaming O'Bama. We all KNOW Saddam was behind it]
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:29 AM
I, of course, am kidding about Obama.. it was Oprah.
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:33 AM
Oprah is a mooselim? Wow, the things you learn blogging!
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:35 AM
Actually, I believe Oprah has her own religion, now. I don't think there is actually any way to NOT get in heaven, under her tutelage. LOL
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:37 AM
So, did you get jb straightened out last night.. after her trip to europe? That cracked me up!
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:39 AM
My stupid comments keep disappearing.. it's going to be a long day.
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:39 AM
Yesterday, I had a couple of comments that took over 10 minutes to show up, another that just plain got lost. Don't take it personally. Yes, JB was pretty amusing last night.
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:42 AM
Oprah doesn't have a religion.
She just has a cult and now a Cable channel called OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). I'm calling my cable provider to ensure that this filth isn't allowed in my home.
Posted by: D-man | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:48 AM
Good morning, guys!
Searching: Sorry about the comments -- I'll check to see if any are in the spam filter and fish them out if so.
Posted by: James Hart | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 07:57 AM
It does make you feel kinda dirty to think about it, doesn't it?
That's it... I blame Oprah.
New subject. How about that city council vote last night? Wayne Cauthen suspended. Troy Shulte now acting city manager. .. Somebody needs a scapegoat, just in time for the election year.. go figure. They actually think that they are going to get reelected.
I think it is time to clean house in KC. It needs a new direction.
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:00 AM
I am really surprised the mayor was able to pull the votes together. I guess the Power & Light / budget issues have really soured people on Cauthen.
Posted by: James Hart | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:02 AM
It's really a Cauthenary tale ...
Posted by: James Hart | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:02 AM
happy friday everybody!
any twightards out there this morning?
Posted by: aqua | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:02 AM
Good morning, D-man and James and aqua.
twightards???? ROFLLLL
The most pun all week:
It's really a Cauthenary tale ...

[bows to Fearless Leader]
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:10 AM
OH, james.... that was classic... LOL
aqua.. what's a twightard?
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:11 AM
The cynical me (I know you're shocked that such a thing could exist) is much amused by the firing of Cauthen. He should have been canned some time ago, but the shi*ty council decided it was a good opportunity to try to show Funkadunk who was boss and gave him a contract extension.
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:19 AM
Searching, I think a twightard is a cross between a "twightlight" fan and a leotard ...
Posted by: aqua | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:23 AM
I think twightard is a nickname -- and probably not an affectionate one -- for people who watch the Twilight movies.
Posted by: James Hart | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:24 AM
lag .... lag ....
can't .... breathe ....
losing .... control of .....
bodily .... functions .....
Come on Type Bad! This is gonna suck today!
Posted by: aqua | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:24 AM
I was thinking something like that but was thinking it was a cross between Twilight and retard.
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:25 AM
.

Posted by: aqua | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:31 AM
it takes almost 5 minutes to my comments to post.
and yes, I am refreshing while holding the control key too.
heh, I just said I am refreshing ...
Posted by: aqua | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:37 AM
The funniest part about this cauthenary tale is that Funky tried to get rid of him. It was the biggest reason he became Mayor. Cauthen had a lot of support with city council and they kept him.. and thus the battle between Mayor and city hall began... now.. it seems we have come full circle.
I have to wonder how different KC would be if they had just fired him in the first place?
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:38 AM
well, that last comment posted right away.
maybe type bad is fixed.
Posted by: aqua | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:38 AM
Aqua, do you use the same html code to insert moving avatar as you do pictures?
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:39 AM
Like Sierra Mist!
Posted by: James Hart | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:39 AM
nope. not fixed. maybe type bad will only allow us to post 1 comment every 5 minutes.
Posted by: aqua | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:40 AM
I'm not sure what causes this. About two months ago, I started noticing the lag. It's not something that just refreshing your browser will fix either -- so I'm kind of curious about what's happening. Again, sorry for the difficulties.
Searching, Keith: I wonder if removing Cauthen -- as ugly as it's going to be -- will actually clear the deck and let the city government get back to more important stuff. You know, if they don't have this to fight over, maybe they'll actually get something done.
Posted by: James Hart | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:46 AM
Searching - yes. same html code. :)

Good Friday morning to all! Going out to dinner tonight..sure am glad it is my birthday and someone else will be picking up the check. Wouldn't want to get arrested for NOT paying the tip!
Posted by: X-raygal | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:49 AM
Happy birthday, Xray!
Posted by: James Hart | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:52 AM
Happy Birthday Xgal! Where you going to dinner? If someone else is paying there should be a major feedbag going on.
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:52 AM
James, what is weird is the posting problem is intermittent. I can go for hours without a problem, then all of a sudden, my comments start appearing and disappearing.
Used to be if I posted another comment it would appear, but that doesn't even work anymore.
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:53 AM
As far as getting arrested goes xgal... that is a sign of a well celebrated birthday.. prior to your 30th birthday. Then you're just to tired to go through the whole booking, bailing out, lawyering up thing.
Posted by: Searching | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:55 AM
Happy Birthday, X-raygal, and many happy returns. Please make sure your hosts tip well...I'm taking a beating in yesterday's tipping thread. LOL
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 08:55 AM
James, I really hope that this is a watershed between Funkadunk and the council, and they start working together. At this point in time, they all should fear the next election. I don't hold Funkster blameless, but I don't hold the council blameless either. Or Yael.
Posted by: Keith G. in P.V. | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 09:01 AM
Good morning everyone! Here is today's financial/economy news in summary: IT SUCKS.
The bright spot out there is that if anyone has any money left to spend, the day after Thanksgiving sales are going have some stunning prices, because as I said up front everything sucks and retatil stores are really hurting, some retailers are on the verge of bankruptcy.
Posted by: Nemesis | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 09:04 AM
Oh no.. no way in the world will they ever "brand" me. Everyone that is on the floor where I work make less than I did at my last position and most are far more incompetent than Government employees.. And that is saying something.
Posted by: You're a Mean Drunk R2D2™ | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 09:05 AM
And I come to realize that they already messed up my paycheck, which is why it's so low.
Boy, do I ever feel like I'm being taken around the "block".
Posted by: You're a Mean Drunk R2D2™ | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 09:07 AM
R2: Who are you working for? Al-Qaeda?
Posted by: James Hart | Friday, November 20, 2009 at 09:10 AM
Good morning, Nemesis and R2D2.
R2, when you say "everyone that is on the floor" do you mean they're plastered by 9 a.m.? A bunch of coke heads, mellowed out to oblivion, passed out from the excitement?
